LAUGHTER AT FIRST SIGHT
October 5 2012, Quarter to 8 in the Morning
“Elmo ma’ boy! You’re early, it seems that you’re ex…” Then Butch laughed hard.
“What? You told me to prep up that is why I wore this.” Elmo entered the shop wearing a very neat polished tux.
“Agent double O-7! Bang!” Butch continued to laugh.
“You’re mean! You know that? What do you want me to wear my PJ’s?”
“Now that’s more hilarious. At that age you still wear Pajamas when you sleep? I bet you also suck your thumb.” Butch continued teasing Elmo.
“Haha! Very funny.”
“I hope you’re not gay.” Butch burst.
“Oh god, here we go ag… hey! That’s exactly what my parents asked last night.” Elmo exclaimed.
“Was the perfume fragrant?” Butch asked.
“So it was you! You were the one who was staring at our window! What did you do?”
“Oh I just gave them my ‘Dory-perfume’”
“Dory-perfume?”
“Named after the blue tang fish in Finding Nemo. Since this perfume let its intended victims to have some short term memory loss.”
“Oh! So that’s why my parents were weird last night.”
“Well I can’t allow you to be gay you know.”
“I am not gay!”
“Are you sure?”
“Man cut it off!”
Butch laughed.
“So where is she?
“She’s here, Just look around.”
The moment I stood up and turned around there I saw someone walking slowly from the big wardrobe. She was beautiful, elegant and seems to be a kind person. But I can’t help myself to laugh; she was wearing a dress that is very extravagant. You know, those dresses with big umbrella skirts whose size could be compared to an ancient church bell. I almost cracked upon looking at my suit because if someone sees us in this attire he/she might think that we are attending a royal ball.
“Are you Julieanne?” “Are you Sir Elmo?” the two said simultaneously.
Julieanne’s POV
As I opened my eyes after the chimes tolled. I saw a lad wearing a night black uniform. He looks very young and untarnished. I really thought he was a statue or something. But when he moved I realized that maybe he is the one I am looking for. So this is what the people in the future wear. He has no medals nor a sword or even a staff. All he has is himself, I have to admit I prefer it this way.
“Yes, I am.” The two said simultaneously.
“The two of you will really get along.” Butch opinionated.
“Francesco! I am so glad to see you!”
Butch and Julieanne hugged each other.
“Sir Francesco, you haven’t aged a day!” Julieanne said.
“And so do you my Dear Princess.” Butch answered.
Elmo’s POV
What is this feeling? Why is my heart pounding fast? Come on brain calm down. When I saw her like I already know her. I feel that we’ve seen each other already… I just can’t remember… I am sure I haven’t fallen for her… have I? Scratch that douche! No I was jut mesmerized. But I really feel like I am nostalgic. But why should I feel it if this is the first time I met her?
Julieanne’s POV
There is something about him that reminds me of someone that I couldn’t recall. But I feel delighted by just seeing him. A similar feeling to that of seeing someone again after a long time.
“Uhm, have we met before?” The two said in unison.
Butch laughed “Nope this is the first time that you’ve met in this age.”
“Oh, I just felt that she looks familiar to me.” Elmo said.
“Well you’ve seen her picture in a book right?”
“But she was older in that picture.”
“Oh you are just mesmerized Elmo. Just admit it that you immediately fell for her.” Butch laughed.
“Here we go again!”
Julieanne giggled, “Well, it is not bad to be honest with thy emotions Sir Elmo.”
Elmo’s POV
Oh my! Those words, they are so smooth! I could listen to that voice. I didn’t expect that those words are more calming. They are very different from just reading them from the book. To top it all oh, her accent it’s like European.
“Well, Accodin’ to some ehxpherts’, Emo-tions should be khept” Elmo said in a raw British accent.
“Elmo cut that out. You sound like a turkey gurgling marbles.” Butch kid.
Julieanne giggled.
“Uhm Julieanne, Can you say Coconut?”
“Ahm khoecoh-nhat?” She said with her natural accent “Why?”
“Oh my! So smooth!” Elmo laughed.
“Elmo!” Butch said in a scolding voice.
“Why what is it? What’s a coconut.” Julieanne said in her accent again.
“Oh boy! Oh boy I can listen to her all day long.”
Listen to me? Oh I feel honored to hear that. It is rare to see a lad have all of his ears to lass. Julieanne thought.
“Princess, don’t listen to him, he is just amazed by how you talk. Don’t say that word again.” Butch said.
“Which one? The coconut?” Julieanne asked.
Elmo laughed, “I wish I have that smooth accent too!”
“Elmo look what you have done!” Butch scolded.
“It’s fine, Sir Francesco. I am actually enjoying it too.” Julieanne smiled.
Julieanne’s POV
That word coconut… it sounds familiar… I know what it is, I have learned about that tropical fruit from my doctor (Note: Doctor means someone who teaches in old tongue) but the way Elmo and laughed about it, it feels… melancholic.
“Okay, so we are done with the introduction. So shall we get to work?” Butch asked.
“Sure! Of course.” The two said again in unison and they smiled at each other.
