EMOTION AT WAR

Julie’s POV

Sir Elmo, Father, Thomas and the other knights didn’t waste any time discussing other issues and went straight outside to prepare for war. Sir Elmo may not look like a knight but his will is similar as any lord knight that we had. He had no war medals or even a uniform but if he and Wilhelm will ask for my hand I will choose Sir Elmo’s. I wish I knew him longer…

Elmo’s POV

I really had no idea on how I could be of assistance to Julie and her fellowmen, but maybe the movies could help me this time. After all I watched Kingdom of Heaven, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and 300. Ohohohoho! I can’t imagine myself kicking someone while shouting “This is Sparta! Errr… Saint John!”

“Your highness, how many archers, trebuchets and catapults do you have?” Elmo asked.

“We have a decent numbers of it, mind if I ask?”

“I get it!” Thomas snapped, “You plan to bombard them right?”

“Yes.” Elmo nodded, “But the key is not just to throw it all out, we need to let every rock and arrow hit its targets.”

“How are we going to do that?” Manfred asked.

“We need a marker and some rocks.”

“Marker?” Manfred wondered.

“Anything that could color a rock white.”

“You heard him! Bring him what he needs.” Thomas ordered the knights.

“Another thing, your highness, can I talk to the lord knight of the archers and artilleries? And also a carpenter and a mathematician.”

“Of course.” Manfred nodded in confusion.

Julie’s POV

Sir Elmo also taught us what he read in their books. He told us how to defend our walls better by making a moat around the castle. Every citizen of Saint John took part in making a deep stream around the walls and connected it to the well. He also discussed how the non-combatants defend the gates. He asked the cooks to boil lots of oils so that the women can fling it to any Turk that may attempt to destroy the barricades.

I can see how the people of Saint John spirits become fortified by Sir Elmo’s help. He doesn’t have the arm to wield a sword but he has a mind of a responsible loving father. He cares to everything he does. He loves those even he didn’t know.

“I think I am having a better opinion about thee,” Grimhold rested his arms on Elmo’s shoulders “But you’re still a shrimp for me.” He laughed.

(Laughs) “Better a shrimp than a worm.” Elmo fibbed.

“Good one! Good one!” He tapped Elmo.

“Sir Elmo, the archers and artilleries are all set.”

“How about the rocks? Are they painted already?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Your highness. We are all ready for the measuring.” Elmo informed.

“I see. I gave thou the temporary authority to command them. Do as thee please.”

“Thank you.”

“Where are the mathematician and the carpenter?” Elmo asked.

“We are ready, Sir Elmo.”
