It had been a long week, and Gempa was feeling the strain. Between helping his brothers with their problems, training, and taking care of the household, he hadn't had a moment to rest. He was always the one making sure everyone else was okay, so when he started feeling dizzy, he brushed it off, convincing himself he just needed some water.
His brothers had noticed he'd been working extra hard lately, but Gempa always had a way of hiding when something was wrong. The problem was, he didn't know how to stop. He was always pushing himself to keep everything together.
The day started like any other, with Gempa waking up early to prepare breakfast. He looked over at Halilintar, who was still snoring away on the couch, and smiled to himself. It was nice to have a quiet moment, even though he could feel his body protesting with every step.
By the time all the brothers gathered for breakfast, Gempa was already running on fumes, but he smiled through it. He wanted to be strong for them.
"Gem, you look kinda pale," Taufan pointed out, mid-bite, looking at him with concern.
"I'm fine, really," Gempa said, forcing a smile. "Just a little tired."
"You've been working nonstop," Blaze chimed in. "Take a break, man."
But Gempa just waved them off, telling himself he could handle it. He wasn't one to complain. And besides, his brothers had their own stuff to worry about.
As the day went on, Gempa continued pushing through, even when his body was begging for rest. He helped Taufan with his wind control training, sparred with Halilintar, and then helped Ice fix a project he'd been working on. Solar asked him for help in the lab, and Duri wanted advice on his garden. Blaze, of course, was being Blaze, asking him to check out a prank idea that might go too far.
Gempa did it all, his body feeling heavier and heavier with each task. It wasn't until later in the afternoon, while they were all hanging out in the living room, that everything finally caught up with him.
"Hey, Gempa, are you seriously okay cause you look kind of pale—" Solar started to ask, but his sentence was cut short when he saw Gempa sway on his feet.
Without warning, Gempa collapsed.
"Gempa!" Halilintar was the first to react, rushing over as his brother crumpled to the floor.
Taufan quickly knelt beside him, his heart racing. "What the heck happened?!"
Blaze's eyes were wide with shock. "He just... fainted?"
Solar, usually calm and collected, looked panicked. "He's been overworking himself! I knew it!"
Duri, always gentle, was close to tears. "Is he gonna be okay?"
Ice crouched down, feeling Gempa's forehead. "He's burning up. He's been pushing himself too hard, and none of us noticed."
Halilintar's jaw tightened as he lifted Gempa into his arms, carrying him to the couch. His rough exterior couldn't hide the worry in his eyes. "Damn it, why didn't he say anything?"
The brothers worked together in a rare, quiet panic. Taufan grabbed a wet cloth to cool Gempa's forehead, while Ice went to get water. Blaze started pacing, his energy bubbling up in nervousness.
"He always takes care of us," Solar said softly, feeling guilty. "But we didn't even notice he was struggling."
"Yeah, well, we're noticing now," Halilintar grumbled, adjusting the pillow under Gempa's head as he lay on the couch. "We're not letting him lift a finger until he's better."
Duri, who had been anxiously holding onto Gempa's hand, nodded. "We'll take care of him. Just like he does for us."
The hours passed, and Gempa remained unconscious, his breathing shallow but steady. His brothers stayed by his side, each taking turns making sure he was comfortable.
Taufan was the first to break the silence, sitting by Gempa's side and lightly brushing his hair out of his face. "We need to be better about noticing this stuff," he said quietly. "He's always putting us first. We can't let him burn himself out."
"I know," Blaze said, slumping against the wall. "I should've paid more attention. I mean, it's Gempa. He's the strongest of all of us, but even he's got limits."
Halilintar, sitting at the edge of the couch with his arms crossed, let out a sigh. "I should've noticed. He was sparring with me this morning, and I didn't even see how tired he was."
Duri sniffled, holding Gempa's hand tighter. "He's gonna be okay, right?"
Ice, who had been calmly assessing Gempa's condition, nodded. "Yeah. He just needs rest. We've got him now."
Solar, who had been pacing earlier, sat down beside Gempa, looking at his older brother with a mixture of guilt and worry. "We need to make sure he knows it's okay to take a break," he said quietly. "He doesn't have to do everything."
A few hours later, as evening approached, Gempa began to stir. His eyes fluttered open, and he groaned, his head pounding.
"Gempa?" Taufan asked, immediately leaning closer. "You okay?"
Gempa blinked in confusion, glancing around at all his brothers hovering over him. "What... happened?"
"You fainted," Halilintar said bluntly, his voice gruff. "You've been working yourself into the ground."
Gempa tried to sit up, but Blaze gently pushed him back down. "Nope. You're not moving, bro."
"We're taking care of you this time," Ice added, holding out the glass of water. "Drink up."
Gempa blinked, still disoriented but touched by the concern on his brothers' faces. "I'm fine, really—"
"Like hell you are," Halilintar interrupted, glaring at him. "You passed out, Gem. That's not fine."
Solar, sitting at the edge of the couch, crossed his arms. "You need to take it easy for a while. We've got this covered."
Gempa chuckled weakly. "Guess I overdid it, huh?"
"No kidding," Blaze said with a smirk, though his eyes were filled with concern. "You've gotta chill, man."
Gempa smiled softly, feeling a warmth in his chest. His brothers had all gathered around him, their usual playful banter replaced with genuine care. It wasn't often they got to see this side of each other, but it felt good.
Taufan patted Gempa's arm. "We're not letting you lift a finger for the rest of the day. You need to rest."
"And tomorrow," Duri chimed in, his voice small but firm.
"Maybe even the next day," Ice added, his tone serious.
Gempa looked at all of them, his heart swelling with gratitude. "Thanks, guys. I'm really lucky to have all of you."
Halilintar rolled his eyes but smirked. "Yeah, yeah. Just don't scare us like that again."
Gempa nodded, feeling the exhaustion still weighing on him but also feeling lighter knowing he didn't have to do it all alone. His brothers had his back, just like he always had theirs.
As night fell, and the house grew quieter, the brothers took turns watching over Gempa, making sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. Gempa, now more relaxed than he'd been in days, finally let himself rest.
The last thing he remembered before drifting off was the feeling of his brothers surrounding him, their warmth and love a constant reminder that he didn't have to carry the weight of everything on his own.
