Taufan stumbled through the rubble, his heart racing as he looked for any sign of his brother. Smoke and dust filled the air, choking him as he called out, his voice trembling. "Hali! Where are you?"
He spotted a figure on the ground, unmoving. Panic shot through his veins as he ran over, barely able to breathe. As he got closer, his heart sank—Halilintar was lying there, blood pooling around him, his usually fierce eyes closed, his chest rising and falling in shallow breaths.
"Hali!" Taufan fell to his knees beside him, grabbing his brother's shoulders and gently shaking him. "Come on, open your eyes! Say something!"
Halilintar's eyes fluttered open, but they looked hazy, unfocused. A faint smile tugged at his lips, as if he recognized Taufan but didn't have the strength to fully react.
"Taufan," he managed, his voice barely a whisper. "You... made it."
Taufan's hands trembled as he gripped Halilintar's shoulders tighter, his chest aching as he fought back tears. "Don't say it like that," he choked out. "You're going to be fine, okay? We just... we need to get you out of here."
But Halilintar's eyes were beginning to lose their spark, his energy fading faster than Taufan could bear to watch. "Listen to me, Taufan," he whispered, his voice weak. "You... you have to be strong for the others. They need you... you've always been the one to keep things together."
Taufan shook his head, tears streaming down his face. "Stop it, Hali. You're the strong one. You're the one we all look up to. I... I can't do this without you!"
Halilintar raised a shaking hand, brushing a tear from Taufan's cheek. "You've always been stronger than you think, Taufan. Don't... don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Promise me, okay?"
Taufan gripped Halilintar's hand tightly, his heart breaking as he nodded, even though every part of him wanted to scream, to beg for his brother to stay. "I... I promise."
Halilintar's breathing grew weaker, his hand slipping from Taufan's grasp. He gave one last, faint smile before his eyes drifted shut, his body going still.
"No... Hali, please!" Taufan sobbed, clutching his brother's lifeless form. "You can't leave me... You can't leave us..."
He cried, the weight of loss crashing over him like a wave. Halilintar's words echoed in his mind, but they couldn't ease the pain, couldn't fill the emptiness left in his heart. He was left with only memories, only promises he wasn't sure he could keep.
