After the final bell, Solar slung his backpack over his shoulder and trudged through the school halls with his head down. Duri, noticing Solar's unusual silence, hurried to catch up, falling into step beside him.
"Hey, Solar!" Duri chirped, giving him a hopeful smile. "How was your day? Did you ace the test like always?"
But Solar didn't answer. He kept his gaze firmly on the floor, moving faster toward the exit. Duri blinked, surprised, and quickly looked over to Gempa, who had also noticed something was off.
Once they got home, the brothers gathered around, their curiosity and worry growing as Solar brushed past them. Halilintar stepped forward, arms crossed with an impatient look. "Alright, what's up with you? We're not letting this go until you talk."
Solar tensed, then sighed, his shoulders drooping as he shakily reached into his backpack. He pulled out a crumpled test paper, holding it tightly before reluctantly handing it over.
Gempa took the paper first, his eyes widening as he saw the score. He passed it to Taufan, who exchanged a surprised glance with Duri, who looked shocked and concerned. Solar's face burned as he noticed each of their reactions, and finally, he couldn't hold it in any longer.
"I... I tried my best," he stammered, voice breaking. "But... but I still failed. I didn't want any of you to be mad at me. I tried so hard, but... I just couldn't think, and no matter what, it wouldn't make sense—" His words dissolved into sobs as the weight of his disappointment washed over him.
Duri didn't waste a second. He wrapped his arms around Solar, pulling him into a warm, comforting hug. "Hey, it's okay," he murmured. "You're allowed to struggle sometimes. We all know you did your best."
One by one, the other brothers gathered around, each offering gentle reassurance. Gempa rubbed Solar's shoulder with a soft smile. "We're not mad, Solar. We're proud of you for trying."
Blaze piped up, trying to lighten the mood. "Honestly, I get bad marks all the time, and—"
"Not exactly the best example, Blaze," Ice interjected with a smirk, making the others chuckle.
Solar, through his tears, managed a shaky laugh as well, feeling his anxiety fade bit by bit. Just as he started calming down, Taufan and Duri leaned in, wrapping their arms around him. "You're one of us," Taufan grinned. "Doesn't matter what's on that paper; we've got you."
The hug turned into a group one, with every one of his brothers huddling close, reassuring him that they'd always be there, no matter what. Solar sniffled, finally smiling as he realized he didn't need to worry about disappointing them. His brothers' support was everything he needed.
