Shadows of Exhaustion

It was another day when Hali kept pushing himself, his eyes heavy yet stubbornly determined to show no weakness in front of his brothers. Last night, the nightmares had been relentless—storm clouds, lightning crashing uncontrollably, and the feeling that he was failing to protect the ones he cared about. But today wasn't the day to let on that he'd hardly slept.

Morning

The sun was already climbing, and Gempa noticed how sluggish Hali seemed. "You good, Hali? You look... off," he remarked with concern.

Hali shot him an annoyed glance, deflecting as usual. "Stop staring. I'm fine."

Solar raised an eyebrow from the breakfast table, catching a hint of something unusual in Hali's tone. "You sure? You sound more grumpy than usual."

Hali scowled, trying to ignore the observation as he sank into his chair, grumbling under his breath. Duri, meanwhile, was gently nudging Hali's plate toward him, as if encouraging him to eat.

"Big bro, you don't have to eat if you're tired, but maybe a little would help?" Duri offered softly, clearly worried.

Hali's scowl softened just slightly. He grunted, pushing a few bites around his plate, but didn't really eat.

Midday

As they went about their usual routines, Solar and Taufan exchanged glances. "Hali's off," Solar muttered, crossing his arms.

"I thought he was just being his usual grumpy self," Taufan replied, though his brows were knitted with worry.

Blaze caught up with them, shaking his head. "He hasn't even yelled at me once today. Not normal."

Ice, noticing as well, joined them, his gaze icy but concerned. "We need to keep an eye on him," he said calmly. "But without making it obvious."

Afternoon

They were all heading back home when it happened. Hali, who had been trailing slightly behind, stumbled. Before anyone could react, he fell, his body finally giving in to exhaustion.

Gempa was at his side in seconds, supporting him up with Duri on his other side, looking terrified. "Hali! Can you hear me?"

"Yeah... just... tired," Hali mumbled, his voice barely a whisper. His head was heavy, his vision blurry, and as much as he wanted to brush it off, he couldn't deny how drained he felt.

Solar and Taufan exchanged a panicked glance. "Let's get him home. Now," Solar insisted, already leading the way.

Back at Home

Once they reached home, they laid Hali down on the couch, Duri placing a blanket over him, his eyes worried. "Is he... is he going to be okay?" Duri asked, voice trembling.

Blaze, his usual mischievous expression replaced with a serious one, nodded, but his worry showed. "Yeah, yeah, he's fine, just tired out. Right, Hali?"

Hali only managed a faint nod, barely able to keep his eyes open. "Just... need rest," he whispered, though his brothers noticed the tension in his voice.

As he lay there, Solar sat nearby, carefully watching Hali's face, noticing the faint stress lines that hadn't been there before. "You've been overdoing it, haven't you?" Solar asked, his tone unexpectedly gentle.

Gempa patted his shoulder, staying nearby. "Just get some rest, Hali," he encouraged.

But as Hali closed his eyes, the nightmares seemed to creep back in, and he tensed, his face twitching slightly. It wasn't long before his hand gripped the blanket tightly.

Solar noticed instantly and quietly scooted closer, resting a hand on Hali's arm. "We're here, Hali. You're safe. Just sleep."

Night

As the night wore on, Hali finally seemed to relax, his breathing steadying. His brothers gathered around, watching over him protectively, each one vowing to make sure he'd never feel alone in dealing with his struggles again. Duri even stayed by his side all night, determined not to leave him until he was truly okay. And as Hali rested, he seemed to finally let go, finding peace surrounded by his brothers' silent support.
