"The first hearing is next Wednesday. That's ten days from now. Have you thought of what compensation you want?" Lan Wangji whispered in Wei Wuxian's ears as his hands kneaded his butt.

"I just want credit where it's due and I want freedom from the Jiangs," he replied pushing himself deeper into his man's body. They lay spooning on the bed.

"Don't let them off too easy," Lan Wangji reminded.

"Shouldn't I be the one to tell you that? After all you're Hanguangjun," Wei Wuxian retorted.

"Right now, I am your husband. And remember I am your legal counsel. I can't do anything that you won't instruct me to," Lan Wangji informed.

"Not even if I allow you to overrule my decisions?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"What are you saying A'Xian?" Lan Wangji asked, anxious to know if he understood Wei Wuxian's words properly.

"I grew up with the Jiangs. My youth wasn't particularly appealing. I have issues. They prevent me from taking concrete action against the Jiangs. I was denied the right to have a voice, the right to own property, the right to anything really. I have enough money in the bank from my other endeavors to buy Jiang outright but I don't dare. So please help me. Guide me, lead me. Not as legal counsel but as my husband," Wei Wuxian requested.

"What other endeavour and how much money are you talking about?" Lan Wangji asked.

"Have you heard of professional gaming?"Wei Wuxian asked.

Lan Wangji nodded without revealing that he used to be a professional gamer back in his school days. "Xue Yang is the CEO  of Y-Tech. They are world leaders in game development right now. So of course I know."

"Then you'll know what I mean when I say that I'm Yiling Laozu. Yiling was my father's place of birth," Wei Wuxian explained.

"You're the Yiling Laozu?" Lan Wangji asked in surprise.

"Yes," Wei Wuxian admitted, unabashed and smug.

"Why do you wear a mask during public appearances?" Lan Wangji asked.

"There's always been a thing growing up. I can't be better than Jiang Cheng at anything. But he isn't really good at gaming and stuff. So I would never get the permission to play games. Left with no choice I forged a separate identity. If the Jiangs, specifically Madam Yu knew about it two things would happen- one, I would never get the chance to play a game again. All my earnings would be confiscated by them. That's the reason I don't own any assets. My entire income has been invested securely," he explained.

"I'm starting to hate the Jiangs," Lan Wangji admitted.

“Your hating them may have a negative impact on the case. I just want to get justice. You be the light bearer that you are, alright?” Wei Wuxian insisted.

“Yes laopo, as you wish,” Lan Wangji conceded, placing a kiss on his nape, pulling him closer.

The following morning Xue Yang appeared early. He held up boxes full of breakfast takeout. “I heard from a little birdie that our little Wangji likes to have cold noodles in summer,” he cooed.

“You met Mianmian?” Lan Wangji asked.

“Well, yesterday Wen Qing introduced me to her family as her official f*ck buddy of the month. And that‘s supposed to be an honour,” Xue Yang recalled.

“It looks like you have met your match,” Lan Wangji assessed.

“Ooo, have I! She is almost as insatiable as I am and she too swings both ways,” Xue Yang informed.

“She swings more than two ways. She doesn’t have taboo when it comes to sex as long as she takes protection,” Wei Wuxian informed, pouring the take-out into bowls.

“Ji ge, do you take pickles?” Wei Wuxian asked.

Lan Wangji shook his head.

Xue Yang turned around. “What do you mean? How can you have cold noodles without pickles?” he asked incredulously.

“I‘ll just help myself with all the pickles then,” Wei Wuxian chirped.

“Why? Are you already pregnant?” Xue Yang asked seriously before breaking into a laughter.

“I don‘t kiss and tell unlike a certain someone in our midst,” Wei Wuxian retorted with narrowed eyes and thin lips.

“Anyways I did what you wanted. As of today Luo Yangyang is an employee at Y-Tech. The company has received a CV from one Xiao Xingchen and the interview is scheduled for next Friday. Since he is a senior lever programmer we are trying to accomodate him into a position that should be at par with his former if not a better one. Also he has a lot more experience than Mianmian’s sister,” Xue Yang explained.

“You‘re on first name slash that childhood name basis with my sister-in-law after one dinner?” Wei Wuxian exclaimed.

“She hates it but Wangji once mentioned the name and when I found out Dr. Luo and Mianmian are the same I couldn’t give up the opportunity to tease her. She is Wangji‘s friend after all,” Xue Yang stated.

“What is that supposed to mean?“ Lan Wangji demanded.

“Well, I didn‘t know that you could do friends. You rarely spoke to anyone through college and then I had to literally get you drunk to make you spill your beans about your bunny and all and you hadn’t touched a drop since then, not till he ended up marrying your enemy,” Xue Yang casually blurted.

Wei Wuxian averted his eyes and focussed on eating as Lan Wangji glared. He finished his food in silence, getting up to get ready for office, leaving Xue Yang and Wei Wuxian in the kitchen.

“I didn‘t mean anything by it. It just came out,” Xue Yang confessed.

“It’s ok. He told me that his bunny got married and I know that I am just a substitute. But you see Mr. Xue, a substitute is better than a servant and I cherish my position. I can proudly say that there are moments I can genuinely make him forget about his bunny. That‘s my victory, for now. He said he doesn’t want to go through the contract anymore. I guess it has something to do with that Mo‘s wedding. This is the most stability I have experienced in all the life that I remember and its not something that I am willing to strain because of the fact that I will never take the place of his bunny,” Wei Wuxian confessed.

Xue Yang sighed and nodded. ”You know what? I like you. I like you for him. He needs stability too. You are good for him. Stay like that. Before you Wangji was all about his bunny. Now it’s mostly about getting you justice and trust me, that is a positive change. Don‘t leave. No matter how stupid he gets, don’t leave. And remember Wangji has the emotional intelligence of a toddler. So bear with him,“ he insisted.

Wei Wuxian smiled at Xue Yang‘s assessment of Lan Wangji’s emotional intelligence. It was far from true for him to become the best corporate lawyer in the country at the young age of 32. But his best friend‘s assessment of him put a smile on his face, so when Lan Wangji came out of his room his friend and his husband were smiling at each other with a twinkle in each other’s eyes and he couldn‘t help the vinegar rising in his throat. Wei Wuxian was with him just to get justice and soon the case would be over. Hanguangjun would get him justice. What then? Would he still consent to stay? Did he really want to stay long term or was he simply playing along to make him agreeable?
