"Where is this place?" The small boy asked the man that held him and led him to a warm cottage. It was a cold winter and he was grateful for it.

"This will be your new home A'Ying and I will be your new Baba, if you'll have me," the older man said.

"But I have A'Die," A'Ying recalled.

"I know sweetheart. But A'Die had to go somewhere with your mama. Till you meet them again I can be your baba. My nephews will be your geges and this Hanshi will always be your home," the kind man replied.

"I always wanted brothers," A'Ying admitted.

"Then it's good that you have two," the older man cajoled.

"Where are they?" Little A'Ying asked.

"Your Da ge is in college and Er Gege is in a special school for gifted students. You'll see him during summer break. They live over in the Jingshi next door. Why don't you settle down in your room before Huan ge is back from college to play with you?" His Baba urged.

"Baba, are my parents dead?" Little A'Ying asked.

The older man covered his mouth with his hand and stiffled a gasp. "Why did you ask that A'Ying?"

"Mama never leaves me behind. If she takes A'Die with her then there's only one place they can go to and that's the afterlife," A'Ying deduced.

His Baba nodded. "You are really the son of Wei Changse and Cangse Sanren. It's true that your parents are no longer in this world but they are waiting for you on the other side of life and on this side I'll never let you be alone," the kind man offered.

A'Ying nodded when he felt a presence behind him. "Who is that, Shufu?" A tall boy in a tennis shirt and baggy jeans asked. He had light blue eyes and a kind smile similar to his Baba.

"A'Huan, this is your new didi, Ying'er. I shall be adopting him at the end of the year." The man replied.

"Hello Ying'er. I'm so glad to have a new didi. I wonder how Lan Zhan will react when he isn't my baby brother anymore," the boy admitted.

A'Ying smiled at that. He was looking forward to being a baby brother. Lan Zhan. The name seemed to mean something to him yet it was not a name he could bring to his lips.

A'Ying felt a fondness in his chest, one he couldn't describe till a silhouette formed. "Lan Zhan", his voice sighed out but it wasn't a sigh of affection. It was a moan of passion.

"Ying'er, I'll mark you as mine. You'll never look at anyone the same again," a breath whispered against his skin. A'Ying felt helpless as a hardness pressed against his back. His wrists were held firmly by two strong arms, his front pressed to a hard surface as his shirt was pulled back, his collar bone sucked till a bruise appeared.

"I'm all yours Lan Zhan. Don't you forget it," A'Ying moaned.

"Don't worry Yinger. Lans don't lie. You'll be mine, eventually," the voice behind him promised.

The scene changed again. A'Ying felt pain everywhere. His eyes glazed over as his body burned. There was dust and grime around him. It was dark and dank. The humidity made it difficult to breathe.

"Let me out Lan Zhan. I'm scared. Your Ying'er is scared," A'Ying begged.

"You're safer there," the cold voice retorted from behind the door.

"Safe from what?" A'Ying begged.

"You don't know what's good for you. You need to stay far away from me," Lan Zhan ordered.

"No, ge. You promised to make me yours. Don't forget your promise. Lans don't lie," A'Ying reminded him.

"Some lies are better than truths," Lan Zhan responded from across the door.

"No Lan Zhan, Lan er gege, Lans don't lie. Ying'er is yours. Lans don't lie. Lans don't lie" A'Ying repeated as assurance and reminder. He could hear footsteps as the boy outside the door retreated. A'Ying's vision blirred with fever and unshed tears. He repeated the assurance to himself as he lost consciousness.

"Lans don't lie. Lans don't lie. Lan's don't lie," Wei Wuxian chanted in his sleep. Sweat beaded over his forehead as he wrestled with the nightmare.

"A'Xian wake up. It's your Ji ge. I'm sorry I reminded you of your past. Lans may lie but your Ji ge will never lie to you, I promise. Laopo, wake up. A'Xian please wake up." Lan Wangji begged. He checked the clock. It was an hour till sunrise.

Lan Wangji rushed to the washroom and took a hand towel, soaking it in warm water. He brought it to the bed and wiped the sweat off his A'Xian. He knew for sure that this dream had something to do with the Lan ge of his past, the homophobic brute that left him with enough trauma that Wei Wuxian chose to forget a significant portion of his life.

Once Wei Wuxian fluttered his eyes open he saw Lan Wangji's worry ridden face. "You won't change, right?" He begged his husband, somewhere between the dream world and reality.

"Never. If you want I can write it in blood. You're it for me A'Xian. You are it," Lan Wangji promised.

Wei Wuxian smiled as the desperation and abandonment of the nightmare left him. A part of him realized that it wasn't a nightmare at all but rather a memory, one that his brain couldn't cope with, that his heart had chosen to shut down. But with every beat it sounds for his Ji ge, the locks in his heart are opening, because no matter what ghosts his past hides, his Ji ge will never let them harm his A'Xian, his laopo.

When Wei Wuxian opened his eyes Lan Wangji looked on with helplessness.

"Did I wake you?" He asked his husband. He was awake now. Lan Wangji was grateful that Wei Wuxian did not remember everything he had said earlier. It was too soon for a confession. He wasn't ready to face his feelings for his spouse.

Lan Wangji's eyes blazed fire as he brought his lips crashing on A'Xian, devouring him. He did not comfort Wei Wuxian with words or tried to soothe out the edges of the nightmare with his promises of eternity. He let his touches do the talking as Wei Wuxian was left a moaning mess, the dream and Lan Zhan soon forgotten, his really rooted in the now. They kept at it for hours, well past sunrise. When they were both spent Lan Wangji got up, leaving a spent A'Xian panting and unconscious from multiple orgasms.

Wei Wuxian's nightmares had become more frequent and his reactions more severe. He had asked Mianmian if the fact that he had entered the same sex relationship bore a consequence. Mianmian theorized that Wei Wuxian never suffered from homophobia. His taboo against same sex relationship originated from his trauma from his previous relationship. As their relationship stabilized his trauma had the opportunity to finally heal. However he didn't want his husband to relive the trauma every day through recurrent nightmares. He needed to talk to Mianmian before heading for the office.
