Chapter 53: Negotiations

Selena's POV:

I flicked Genesis's blood off my sword and sheath it like a samurai before I directed my attention to Chase,
who picked up Excalibur and started swinging it as his hands started to smoke.
"It talks!"
He blurts out,
catching me by surpise and making me jump!
"Huh?" I asked.
"The sword talks! Wanna hear her?"
He asked......
"Umm, sure."

Chase telepathically links me to his Excalibur,
and I hear a mature womanly voice speaking to me.
(Hello, Miss!)
My eyes widened,
surprised as I thought he was pulling my leg.
Excalibur just talks like a kid juiced up on caffeine and sugar,
telling us all about Genesis using a Grimoire so that he could wield her against her will and that she'd never pick him to be her new king,
then she started talking to Chase,
who returned that kid level energy, and they just hit it off like two best friends. "Wanna go kill some demons together and be my partner?!"

Chase asked excitedly.
(HECK YEAH!)
Excalibur replied.
Creating a sheath of pure holy energy on his back and with some mild difficulty, he put Excalibur in her sheath.
Some time later,
we found Genesis's real body in a preservation pod,
incased in ice,
and Chase melted the ice,
then burned his real body into ashes.
On the way out,
I put my hood over my head and shades back on to protect against snow blindness.

Outside the factory,
there was a magic blizzard that kicked up while I was inside and has begun spiraling out of control and turned into a natural weather phenomenon the size of a hurricane over one continent.
"Let's get rid of that before it becomes a problem."
Sora says as she karate chops the air, splitting the blizzard in half!
I knew they were beasts,
but they kept finding new ways to impress me!
About 30 minutes later.
We showed up at the room Terra and AJ were in.

Terra sat on his knees,
clutching AJ's sword,
and Seth, Yuzuhara,
and Zoey just hugged him.
"What happened here? Why is everyone so bloodied up?"
Litterally,
the whole squad was here.
Jin Kotomura, Himiko,
Seth, Zoey,
and Yuzuhara spoke of Terra killing AJ as they witnessed the whole thing.

I knew they were lying,
saying they helped him,
but I'm not about to push the issue. Terra did his job in the end,
just like I did.
The flight back home,
once we got a new helicopter,
was interesting,
to say the least,
as Seth nerded out on Sora,
asking her if she did Sky Eater like Lu Bu from ROR, and Sora was just confused.

Male Terra's POV:

Some Time Later:
Back in London at Shimura and Himiko's London base.
I gave my report personally to the Pope and Jin, Himiko, Seth,
and the others all vouched for me, killing AJ with their help.
It was a lie on Jin and Himiko's part,
and why they didn't throw me under the bus is byond me, but I'm not complaining.

The Pope congratulated Selena and I on killing Genesis's team and then officially disbanded the squad.
After he said that,
I asked him why he sent AJ on a double agent suicide mission,
to which he looked at me saddened, which boiled my blood!

"About that..... I know saying I'm sorry won't make up for the loss of your ex."
I slammed my fist on his desk.
"YOU'RE DAMN STRAIGHT IT WON'T! WHY. DID. YOU. DO. IT?!"
Himiko and Shimura grab my arms and prevent me from lunging at the man!
It was all they could to prevent me from letting him have it!

"I did it because your father was my right hand before Shimura and Himiko came along. Your father and I shared a lot of core beliefs about Exorcist being pure and can't use Dark Magic. He didn't like that you two were growing close, and he disguised it as she was affecting your schoolwork and training. I didn't know it at the time, but he plotted to get rid of her instead of disowning you. I can't tell you the logic in his thinking but all the promotions. All the suggestions to send AJ on X or Y mission. All of it was your father's doing, and I shared his beliefs. That was until Seth came long and had a child and raised her with Miss Mendez. It was only then that I truly changed my beliefs. I will not deny the part I played in all of this, and AJ's blood is on my hands for listening to that tyrant of a man. I'm truly sorry, Terra. If I could bring her back, I would, but sadly, life doesn't work that way for people like us."
