Artificial 7: Genesis Requiem

Chapter 33: Closure

Narration: "I want to fight you."
Selena says deathly serious.
"Huh?"
Seth repilies confused.
"You heard me. I want to fight you to see if I could have killed Brandon myself. Twins, you stay out of this. This is between me and him."
Selena lays out the conditions,
and less than an hour later,
Zoey, Yuzuhara, Anton, the twins, Chase's kids, Belladonna, Morgan, Reina, Ventus,
and Terra,
showed up at the forest battle grounds where Selena and Seth were in an open field.

"I didn't think we'd have so many observers. Hey, win or lose, no hard feelings, alright?"
Seth grins at Selena and offers a fist bump,
but she stares him dead in the eyes with the coldest,
uncaring expression ever.
She unholsters her left gun while drawing a real ninjaken from her side. "Yeah...... sure."
Selena says to just get the show on the road.
"Yoooooou......... don't want to fist bump back?"

Seth makes a slightly saddened face. "Your hand is in my strike zone."
Selena replies coldly,
and even though she wasn't showing it, Seth's fun-loving,
anti confrontation personality is starting to frustrate her.
Seth distances himself and takes a martial arts stance.
"This isn't fun and games, Seth! This isn't for funnies! FIGHT ME SERIOUSLY!" Seth looks a bit displeased.
"Woman, I am taking you seriously! You just can't-."
Selena shoots at Seth,
and the fight is on!

Selena shoots a few rounds,
and Seth moves quick enough that he might as well be teleporting.
Halfway to Selena,
Seth starts phasing through the bullets due to having to react insanely fast from a few feet away.
Selena swings her sword,
and Seth makes his body tangible again and punches the sword as he bares down with most of his might while Selena uses the barrel of the gun to prevent the spine of her sword from smacking her in the head.

Seth uses his right hand,
and his shadow rises diagnally as a dragon like head goes to bite Selena, causing her to leap back barely and blow a hole through Seth's shadow. Selena fires more bullets as Seth uses his own shadow to create shadow throwing stars and fires them at Selena's bullets, causing her to empty her magazine.
Seth starts making more shadow throwing stars and controls them by swiping his hands diagnally, horizontally,
or vertically.
Selena jumps, ducks, hacks,
and slashes any that come her way.

Seth leaps over the trees,
and shadows from the trees form into more throwing stars,
causing mild cuts and punctures to the arms and thighs.
"HHHHSK!"
Selena plucks the one out of her left arm,
then looks back at Seth,
who is flying in the air and positioned himself where the sun is,
making it hard for her to look at him. Meanwhile,
Seth formed a shadow bow and fired one arrow with low explosive range but just enough to send Selena around some trees.

Seth teleports and starts hiding in the trees while Selena hides behind a tree, catching her breath and reloading. (Transcend!)
Selena thinks to herself as all her aura swells into the head,
then dispersed all over her body, allowing not just levitation but also flight.
In short,
transcend is a technique that Himiko made when seeing an Artificial Demon do the same by flying with their aura.

But,
unlike the Artificial race,
who just use it for flight,
Transcend is the human's version of a Limit Overdrive,
causing their brain to release one of the several limiters it has on the human body.
However,
unlike the Artificial Demons who use Limit Overdrive,
it does not allow humans to teleport.

Selena kicks off some of the trees and flies around at fast speeds,
but Seth spots her,
fires a shadow that gets her leg,
and yanks her towards him only to have his body be filled full of holes and start bleeding out.
Selena kicks off the tree and lands near Seth,
who's lying on the ground,
shocked as his healing factor shuts and repairs his wounds.
Those bullets Selena used weren't just bullets dipped in holy water and blessed by a priest.
