Billie was up, dressed and out the bedroom door faster than any Olympic gold medal champion. almost running into her mother, Maggie let out a shocked gasp as her back pressed against the wall. she didn't even have to ask as she grabbed her coat running after Billie and jumping into the passenger's seat.

She barley had enough time to put her seatbelt on as Billie hurriedly peeled out of her parents' driveway. guaranteed tire marks left behind on the street and a puff of white smoke as her tires took a moment to grip onto the asphalt beneath them before gaining traction and speeding down the street.

Maggie although scared, holding on to the car's emergency handle above the passenger door window was almost as determined to find out the condition of her daughter-in-law.

Letting out a frustrated yell gripping hard onto the steering wheel when yraffic came to a full stop Billie peered around the cars in front of her as much as she could.

"Fuck!" she screamed again.

"What is it?" Maggie asked as she tried her best to see what Billie was looking at.

Billie contemplated ultimately coming to a decision. quickly unbuckling her seat belt, she hurried out of the car.

"Billie, wait!" Her mom shouted. agitated already she stopped turning back around to the car. Maggie rummaged through her purse pulling out an inhaler she always kept on hand for her daughter.

"If you're gonna run take this, we don't need both of you in the hospital."

taking the inhaler, giving her a quick thanks. Billie began her 2-mile run to the hospital.

Her lungs were burning in her chest, begging for her to stop but she kept pushing forward. Her wife's life was on the line.

she finally reached the hospital ignoring the receptionist at the front desk. she barley slipped through the closing elevator doors mashing the fifth-floor button.

She ignored the stares coming from the people next to her as she anxiously bounced on her knees. pulling out her inhaler taking a few pumps to calm her lungs down. she watched eagerly as the light switched to each floor.

First floor
Second floor.

It stopped at the third floor letting the woman and her child out once they passed the door, she then again mashed the 'Close door' button.

Finally, she reached the fifth floor she ran towards Halley's room, worried to see her room now empty. she spun around on the verge of having a panic attack. she then marched up to the nurse's station.

"Halley O'Connell. where is she?" Billie demanded.

"Are you related to the patient?"

"Yes." She seethed through her teeth.

Without saying a word, she picked up the receiver of the phone mumbling into the phone to whoever picked up on the other line.

She then hung-up informing Billie her nurse would be right with her.

She took a seat on a nearby chair her hands clasped together as she leaned forward her knee bouncing a million miles a minute.

"Mrs. O'Connell?" Billie's head shot up quickly standing up.

"Where is she?"

"There's been some complications."

"Complications? what Complications?"

Nurse Jacobs then explained that Halley had developed a blood clot and had to be rushed to have an emergency operation before it traveled to her lungs. otherwise it could lead to a condition called pulmonary embolism which can ultimately lead to a stroke and possibly death if left untreated.
