The ship approached them with speed once thought impossible for a vessel of that size. The group knew there wasn't any chance of escape. As much as they hated the thought, wished it wasn't true, they had to fight Maverick again.

Atlan made his way up to the wheel of the ship. "Alright, I'm going to be honest. I have no idea what to do. That might sound like I'm giving up or saying we run and hide until we're all dead. It does mean that we're going to have to improvise a bit."

"We can work with that." Lyra smirked as she pulled Zeke, Theo and Val into a side hug. The demon smiled softly before turning to his wife who had just flown up to him.

"Celeste, I need you to know-"

"I know." Celeste caressed his cheek. They knew this fight might not go as well as the last one.

"Then what are we waiting for?" Zeke grinned. All of them shared a collective knowledge of what they were getting into.

"Whether it be death or worse, we're going down as a team." the purple eyed mage wandered to the edge of the boat, glaring at Maverick's ship.

Before they knew it, Maverick was boarding their stolen boat, Genesis in tow. "I must say, I truly wish our last interaction had gone less violently... Anyhow, I'm afraid you all are going to come with me." the blond man caught a glimpse of Cordelia, almost gasping in shock. "My, Cordelia Marino! As I live and breathe..." he chuckled quietly. "I thought I wouldn't have the honour of meeting you again! I'm guessing the guards caught you after your last escape attempt?"

"Maverick. It would be best if you leave..." the dark blue skinned woman snarled.

The blond rolled his eyes, snapping his fingers. Genesis responded; attacking Cordelia. The older woman blocked the kicks and punches - even getting a few swings on the hybrid.

With Genesis busy, the others took the opportunity and went after Blondie. Several guards meeting them halfway. Flames, daggers and talons ruthlessly attacked the guards - the fight continuing for hours. It only stopped when a loud screech came from Genesis, followed by a painful cry of agony. It was like time had suddenly froze, everyone - including the guards - turned to the source of the ear piercing noise.

The hybrid stood over a pool of blood. A woman lying, dead at her feet.
