I woke in the middle of the night, the weight of Jake's warmth still comforting beneath my head. He had fallen into a peaceful sleep, his breathing steady and soft, a stark contrast to the chaos outside. I shifted slightly, trying not to disturb him, but the pain from my wound throbbed, a reminder of the dangers we faced.

Carefully, I pushed myself up, wincing a little as I moved. I didn't want to show how much it hurt, but I knew I needed a moment away from the overwhelming weight of fear that hung over us. The building felt stifling, and I made my way to a small window, peering outside.

What I saw was disheartening-a world still consumed by turmoil. The sounds of sirens blared in the distance, mingled with cries and the sporadic gunfire that echoed through the night. It was a mess, a scene that filled me with dread, and I felt my heart sink.

As I stood there lost in thought, a hand suddenly landed on my shoulder, and I turned to see Heeseung hyung looking at me with concern etched on his face. "What are you doing up, Sunghoon? Not sleeping?" he asked softly.

I shrugged, the weight of my thoughts pressing down on me. "Too much in my head. I don't know what to do," I admitted, feeling vulnerable.

He nodded, understanding in his eyes. "Same with me," he said quietly. Then he tilted his head, studying me. "How do you feel now?"

I hesitated but replied, "I'm fine," though I knew it was a lie. The pain throbbed just beneath the surface, and I wished I could be as strong as everyone thought I was.

We both stood in silence for a moment, gazing at our sleeping friends. "They all look so filled with fear," I murmured, breaking the quiet.

Heeseung nodded, his expression serious. "Yeah, it's hard to watch."

"I wish we could just start over," I said, the desire for a fresh beginning echoing in my chest.

Heeseung sighed, glancing at Jake as well. "He looks so tired," he observed. "And he's worried about you, you know."

I nodded, a smile creeping onto my face despite the heavy feeling in my heart. "He cares so much."

Heeseung's expression softened. "He's not just strong on the outside; he's stronger in his heart. After you got shot, he was so worried about you. He cried for more than an hour."

My chest tightened at his words. Why was Jake so kind? The thought of him in pain filled me with a mix of sorrow and determination. I wanted to protect him from everything, even if it meant risking myself. He deserved so much more than the weight of this fear.

Heeseung's voice brought me back to reality. "I'm going to sleep again, Sunghoon. Don't think too much and try to get some rest," he said gently before moving back to where Eunhee lay.

I watched him for a moment before returning to Jake. As I lay back down, my head resting once again on his lap, I felt the soothing rhythm of his heartbeat beneath me. Closing my eyes, I let the world fade away, the fear and chaos momentarily drowned out by the warmth of his presence.

With a sigh, I surrendered to sleep, finding solace in knowing that as long as we were together, there was still hope.
