Sunghoon's POV

The soft rays of the morning sun filtered through my window, casting a gentle glow on the walls of my room. As I blinked away the remnants of sleep, I found myself already anticipating our meeting at the garden. It was our little sanctuary, a place where the world felt quieter, and our conversation could flow freely.

I dressed carefully, selecting a crisp white shirt with long sleeves, a nod to that classic old money style I didn’t usually embrace but felt right in today. Paired with tailored office pants, I felt polished yet relaxed, perfectly suited for a casual morning with Jake. I ran a hand through my hair, trying to tame it into something manageable before grabbing my keys and heading out.

The drive to the flower shop was short but essential. Lavender seemed like the perfect choice—its calming scent and delicate hue were fitting for the mood I intended to create. As I stepped inside, the fresh fragrance engulfed me, and I made my way to the counter, selecting a small bouquet of the vibrant purple flowers. The florist gave me a knowing smile, and I felt a surge of excitement.

With the bouquet carefully arranged in my passenger seat, I drove to our beloved garden, my heart beating a little faster. As I arrived, I parked beside the familiar oak tree—a towering giant that bore witness to countless shared stories and silences between us.

There he was. Jake sat comfortably under the shade, engrossed in a book, his bicycle propped beside him alongside scattered pages and a few more flowers. He wore a cozy white cardigan and soft white sweatpants, an effortless charm radiating from him. I felt a warmth rise in my chest at the sight; he always managed to make the ordinary feel extraordinary.

“Good morning!” I called out, my voice cutting through the calm of the garden.

Jake looked up, his face lighting up with a sweet smile that made my heart skip a beat. “Good morning!” he replied, his voice cheerful yet soothing, as if it could chase away any lingering shadows of doubt from the morning.

I walked closer, the bouquet of lavender clutched tightly in my hands, trying to ignore the butterflies swirling in my stomach. “I brought these for you,” I said, holding them out, my cheeks warming slightly as I did.

He glanced at the flowers, genuinely surprised. “Oh, Sunghoon, thank you!” he exclaimed, taking the bouquet with a grateful sparkle in his eyes. “These are beautiful!”

As he inhaled the calming scent of the lavender, I couldn’t help but smile, watching him. In that moment, everything felt perfect—the sun above us, the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze, and most importantly, Jake’s happiness shining brighter than anything else in the park.

“Thought you might like them,” I replied, feeling a rush of contentment wash over me. The simple joys—the ones I shared with Jake—felt like the most meaningful moments of my life.

He tucked the flowers next to him, then returned to his book, and I settled down beside him, our usual routine falling into place. I knew that today wouldn’t be different. I would listen as Jake spun stories about his latest adventures, and I would cherish these moments, quietly hoping that one day soon, we could turn our friendship into something more.

With that thought in mind, I leaned back against the oak tree, ready to get lost in his words, captivated not just by the stories he told but by the realization that these morning meetings were more than just routine—they were becoming my favorite part of the day.

The warmth of the sun wrapped around us like a soft embrace as Jake and I settled into our familiar routine. The garden was alive with colors—flowers in bloom punctuated the lush green of the landscape, and the gentle sound of water from the nearby pond created a soothing melody in the background. I watched as Jake leaned over to peer into the crystal-clear water, his expression thoughtful, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
