Queston: Hi! I've read your book on wattpad and my friend is too shy to ask so I'm gonna ask, is it okay for a girl to ask out the guy?
Hi! Can you talk about the stereotyping of gender roles?
What's your thoughts on the whole girl does this thing and guy's do this thing?
Do guys have to act a certain why?
Why do girls and guys feel the need to act a certain way?
Well hey there guys! Today I am not going to watch scarring videos and I am not going to react to them (thank you my bitches)
Today! I am talking about gender roles! I have had multiple messages regarding this whole thing of gender roles. So today is more of a rantish/talk with you guys because I feel like it's important to communicate with all of you wonderfully fab people who sometimes put my through questionable things (I'm talking to you Anaconda)
OKAY! So let's get this started.
Answering the first question: YES! It is totally okay for a girl to ask a guy out.I have never gotten this whole shunning of girls asking guys out. Like come on, anyone can ask any person they want out regardless of the gender.
AND NOW FOR MY THOUGHTS ON GENDER ROLES:
I think gender roles are pretty fucking stupid.
I mean us humans are so dynamic, so unique, so different from one another. Why are we degrading ourselves and other's and putting a person with so many sides, so many angles, so many unique characteristics and trying to stuff them into a category that only fits 1 of their many beautiful characteristics?
Ever since I was young I had heard this thing of "Guys can do this" and "Girls can do this". But I never understood why we had to fit these stereotypes. Tons of you already know I hate stereotyping and the whole concept of feeling like you have to fit into a certain mold.
STOP! JUST STOP!
Okay. Nobody has to fit what the hell you want them to fit. Okay. We are all different, unique and beautiful and I dont give a fuck about what mold you think I should fit.
I am never going to act like you want me to. I am never going to be who you want me to be. I am never going to fit your distasteful mold of who I should be.
I am going to be who I want to be. I am going to act how I want to. I am going to wear what I want. I am going to say what I want to say. I will listen to what music I want to. I will play what sports I want to. I will dye my hair whatever color I want. I will get a piercing if I want. I will get a tattoo if I want. I will not stop being myself because you think I should act a certain why.
I am never going to stop being me.
Addressing Gender Roles:
"Girls should be in the kitchen cooking"-No, they don't have to. If a girl loves to cook or she is good at it, GREAT! But I know girls who suck at cooking and absolutely hate cooking. They don't have to fit that stereotype.
"Guys should act tough."- This one has always annoyed me because...we all have emotions and we all have feelings and we don't have to act tough. I mean, I'm a pretty emotional guy and I do enjoy me some romance movies and books. (I cried reading and watching the Fault in our Stars) I don't fit the gender role of acting tough because of that and honestly.
Idgaf.
Guys can play sports if they want, they can do ballet if they want, the can do gymanastics, they can be in mathletes or whatever the hell they want to! I mean every guy is different just like every girl is different.
"Girls should have long hair and not dye it."- If you like your hair short, chop that long hair off then. If you like your hair dyed certain colors, go for it.
Fuck what people will think, if it makes you feel confident and beautiful and you like it. Fuck what others think. They can be angry and call you whatever they want, they will be wasting their words and you will be the happy one.
I think it's cool when girls have short hair, pixie cuts are so cute btw! But I like long hair too! Like there are so many hairstyles! Do whatever the hell you want. And it's awesome with all these colors you can dye your hair with too.
"Guys don't cook/sew/clean."- HAHAHHAHAHAA
Oh my god shut the fuck up, love.
I know guys that cook really well. And it's pretty fricking awesome when a guy can be like "HERES FUCKING FOOD THAT I LIKE MADE AND ITS TASTY." LIKE GIIME! ^-^ and like guys who sew are pretty cool, just saying.
And if a guy can clean, LIKE DAMN LETS MOVE IN TOGETHER. I learned how to clean from my mother and she's like A CLEAN FREAK so.
"Women shouldn't speak their mind."- Fuck you whoever made that stereotype and "rule".
GIRLS! You listen to me, okay. You can say whatever the damn fuck you want. Speak your mind. You have every right to speak your mind like us guys. Okay? okay.
Don't listen to the stereotype that you have to be quiet about what's on your mind. Say it! Any guy or girl who looks down on you for speaking your mind is a dumbass.
You have every right to say what's on your mind and express your opinion. And I encourage you to speak your mind because you can.
Now a lot of you will tell me "This is great and all but stereotypes exist and happen."
And you are right, they do exist but that doesn't mean we have to mold to them. I encourage you to go against the stereotypes. Do what you want, it's your life. It's not your mom or dad's life. It's not your best friend's life. It's not that girl who gave you the glares life.
It's yours.
So live it the way you want to.
Oh and one more thing.
I love you<3
Have wonderful day bitches xoxo
