Unexpected

Surprise!!

Reece wanted so surprise Marjorie, he wanted to surprise her with something that she'd remember and cherish forever, he had a few ideas in mind however he needed some help, and he knew exactly who to ask.

Reece and Ivy were at home, Marjorie was working the late so she was expected home at about 7 ish. While Reece began to prepare dinner he had a discussion with Ivy.

"Ivy?" Reece asked.

Ivy looked up from her phone "yeah?" She smiled.

"I need your help."

Ivy looked worried. "Oh gosh.." she sounded concerned.

"No.. no it's nothing bad. I want to surprise Marjorie." He laughed.

"I see..."

"I feel like she's been through alot recently, and I just want to do something, especially before the baby arrives.. I have no idea where to start." He said worriedly.

"Well.. I don't know to be honest, you want to get her a gift? Like flowers or something like that?" She asked.

"Definitely not, something big.. something she'll never forget. A bunch of flowers dies in a week."

"I've got it." Ivy had an idea pop in her head.

"What?"

"Has she ever told you, like places she'd love to visit? I don't know.. like her dream holidays or bucket list as some people would call it?" She asked.

"She has." Reece smiled.

"Right, what are they?"

"Not too long ago, we told each other, five places we want to visit together." Reece thought for a second. "She said.. if I remember rightly, Santorini, Dubai, The Maldives, Paris and.. New York." He smiled.

"Perfect!!" Ivy squealed.

"You're not coming.. I hope you know that. Which is exactly why we can't be gone for too long."

"I know that, how long you thinking to go for then?" She questioned.

"I don't know.. something like 5 days, four nights maybe?"

Ivy paused for a moment. "That's fine then, maybe not the Maldives or Dubai.. five days isn't long enough. I'd go for one of the cities like New York, or Paris." She smiled.

"Thing is.. we've both been to Paris before, we just wanted to go together." He huffed.

"New York.. book it. Now!!" She demanded jokingly.

"Alright, alright chill." He laughed.

Reece spent a while booking the trip, with Ivy's help.. he made sure that Marjorie would absolutely love it, it was going to be perfect.

"All done." He smiled.

"Wait- when are you leaving?" She asked.

"In two days time. I'm just booking Marjorie a week off work.." he said while typing on his phone.

"That's short notice.. are you telling Marjorie tonight??" She asked.

"I'll tell her tomorrow, when she least expects it."

Ivy grinned. "This is going to be amazing."

Reece nodded in agreement. "I hope so."

The next day...

Reece walked into Marjorie's office, she wasn't there, he was confused as she was always in her office. He had to find her, he needed to tell her about the surprise.

He bumped into Janice while he was looking for Marjorie.

"Janice." He asked.

"Hello Reece." Janice smirked.

"Where's Marjorie?"

"I believe she's covering for a sick staff member in the baby room." Janice said as she walked away.

Reece made his way to the baby room, he leaned on the door frame, watching Marjorie who was unaware that he was there.

She held one of the babies, a little girl, she was unsettled and couldn't stop crying. Reece watched as Marjorie soothed the little girl, cradling her in her arms and humming. The baby stopped crying, almost immediately.

"Hey gorgeous." He smiled.

Marjorie jumped slightly. "I didn't realise you were there." She giggled. "This is Gracie." She smiled as she walked toward Reece.

"Can I hold her?" Reece asked. It was unlike Reece to want to hold a baby, however, he knew he needed the practice.

"Of course, here." Marjorie smiled as she passed the baby to Reece.

Reece held Gracie with care, gently rocking her back and forth. She had fallen asleep.

Marjorie watched Reece hold the little girl, she felt her heart warm and seeing Reece with kids, gave her slight baby fever. 

"You're a natural, my darling." She smiled.

Reece laughed as Charlotte walked into the room. "Hey char." Reece said.

Charlotte smiled. "There's only two babies left, I'm in ratio so you two are free to go if you want."

Reece nodded. "Yeah Marjorie, I need to tell you something."

"Go to my office, is it important?" She questioned.

"Yeah." Reece replied.

Reece followed Marjorie into her office and they both took a seat.

Marjorie stared at the calendar.

"We're both off next week?" She was confused.

"It's about that.." he smiled.

"Right.. Carry on."

"Name the five places you said you've always wanted to go.. in order." He said.

Marjorie thought for a second. "Okay.. Paris, Greece, Dubai, The Maldives, New York." She smiled.

"We're going away, for five days. And it's to one of those places." He told her.

"You're joking!! Reece!! You didn't have to!!" She said excitedly as she threw her arms around him.

"I did have to gorgeous, we need to make some memories before this baby arrives." He giggled placing a hand on her bump.

"I need to go home and pack.. now. Hot or warm or cold weather?" She asked panicking.

"I'd say a mix of warm and cold." He smiled.

"Right.. hurry!! Let's go." Marjorie said as she quickly packed up all her things and grabbed her bag.
