Unexpected

It had been about a week and a half since Ivy's birthday, it was the last day at the nursery before the Christmas break, it was also the day after Marjorie's due date, Reece was getting ready for work while Marjorie was downstairs getting herself a drink.

Reece walked into the kitchen. "Morning gorgeous, you okay?" He asked.

She looked up at him and sighed. "Don't go to work."

"I have to." He said looking at her lovingly while tucking a hair behind her ear.

"But what if she decides to come today, or..." Marjorie was interrupted.

"Then you call me straight away, if you're in any pain whatsoever, call me and I'll come running." He smiled and pulled her in for a kiss.

"Okay." She smiled worriedly. Reece sensed the fear in her eyes.

"Marjorie. Look at me.." he started. "It's gonna be okay, like you said.. this isn't the first time you've been through this."

She sighed. "And I'm still worried sick." She added. She looked at her phone. "You'd better get going."

"Yeah- also..." he began.

"Yeah?" Marjorie responded.

"Where's Ivy?" Reece asked.

"She stayed at her boyfriends last night and I think she's gone home to get the last of her stuff." Marjorie smiled.

"Oh. Okay, I'll see you soon gorgeous, I love you."he smiled as he walked through the front door.

"Love you too." Marjorie yelled.

Autumn was sat in the office, she was sat typing at Marjorie's desk, trying to juggle all of the extra work that the staff had to pick up on since Marjorie was off.

Reece walked into the office.

"Big brother. What can I do for you?" She asked.

He handed her his phone. "Keep an eye on it, I've got to go and cover in the rooms."

"Keep an eye on it? Why?" She asked.

"Marjories a day past her due date, to be honest it could happen any moment now, if she calls, come and get me straight away."

Autumn nodded "will do."

Reece smiled. "Thank you, autumn."

Autumn sat by Reece's phone most of the day, while Reece helped out in the rooms, at about 1pm, the phone rang. Autumn answered.

"Marjorie. Everything alright?" She asked.

"No. Where's Reece? Get him now." She demanded, wincing slightly.

Autumn stood up, phone in one hand and walked towards the preschool room. "What's happened?" Autumn asked.

"I think my waters just broke." She cried.

"Oh lord, I'm being as quick as I can, stay on the phone for me please." She pleaded.

Autumn walked into the room and went straight up to Reece. "You need to go home, I'll cover in here for you." She demanded.

Reece looked confused. "What's happened?"

Autumn raised an eyebrow. "Take the phone, it's Marjorie."

Reece took the phone and made his way to his car. "Marjorie? You there?" He asked.

"Are you on your way home?" She asked.

"Yes. Can you tell me what's happened please?" He replied.

"I think I'm in labour." She whimpered.

Reece put his foot down, he even had to run a few red lights. "Alright, hang on I'll be there in literally less than Five minutes, I promise."
