That same day, Marjorie and Reece were at home packing, Marjorie was already getting stressed out, worrying if she'd packed too little or too much.
She huffed. "Reece- what times the flight?"
"5am, I'm sorry gorgeous.. I know you like your sleep." He giggled. "You almost packed?" He asked.
"No.. I have no idea what to bring. It's so difficult." She sighed.
"I've already told you it'll be warm, maybe a little chilly." He giggled.
"It's not that Reece- nothing fits." She huffed, gesturing toward her bump.
"Marjorie, you look stunning, no matter what you wear." He smiled.
Ivy walked in.
"Sorry am I interrupting?" She asked.
"No, my love, what is it?" Marjorie smiled.
"You've seriously written me a list of chores to do while you're away?" She asked jokingly.
"That was Reece, nothing to do with me." Marjorie laughed.
Ivy read the list out loud:
"Load dishwasher, hoover once a day, make bed each morning, make sure front and back door are locked, keep kitchen clean." She read.
"That's hardly chores, that's basic housekeeping, it'll come in handy when you're away at college." Reece giggled.
Ivy went silent. "About that.."
Marjorie looked concerned. "What is it sweetheart?"
"I'm not going." She muttered.
"What? Are you sure darling? You've worked so hard, and you just turn it down like that?" She asked softly.
"I didn't want to go, my mum wanted me to, I want an apprenticeship.. preferably at your nursery."
Marjorie smiled. "I'm sure I can make that work."
"Great!! I'll leave you two to pack I guess." She was about to leave the room..
"Darling- wait." Marjorie yelled.
"What is it?" Ivy asked.
"Are you sure you're alright with us leaving you here alone?" Marjorie sounded worried.
"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me mum, just enjoy yourself." Ivy smiled and left Marjorie and Reece alone in the bedroom.
The evening flew by, their flight was scheduled for 5AM the next morning. Marjorie didn't get a wink of sleep, at 19 weeks pregnant, certain things became uncomfortable.
The alarm went off at about 2:45 am, giving the two enough time to get to the airport and get sorted before the flight.
Marjorie's eyes fluttered open at the sound of the alarm, she pushed her glasses up. "Reece" she called out.
No response.
"Reece, darling wake up." She said slightly louder.
He groaned and rubbed his eyes as he sat up.
"Hey gorgeous." He said half asleep.
"We need to get a move on, come on Get up."
Marjorie got up, pulled on a pair of grey sweats and a black hoodie. Reece did the same.
"Let me check if Ivy's asleep." Marjorie said as she left the bedroom.
She tiptoed towards Ivy's bedroom and pushed the door ajar.
Ivy woke up instantly.
"Mum!! Are you leaving?" She asked as she sprung out of bed.
"Yeah, how did you..." Marjorie was interrupted.
"I'm a really light sleeper." Ivy giggled and threw her arms around Marjorie. "I'm gonna miss you."
"I'll miss you too sweetheart, look after yourself for me okay?" Marjorie's eyes filled up with tears. She couldn't tell if it was hormones or if she was genuinely scared to leave Ivy.
"I will, please just go and enjoy yourself.. you truly deserve it. I love you." Ivy smiled as she sat back down on her bed.
"I love you more." Marjorie giggled as she shut the door.
Reece walked towards her carrying their luggage. "Are we off then?" He asked.
"I guess we are." Marjorie shrugged.
The drive to the airport wasn't too long, however Marjorie was unusually silent. She wasn't normally so quiet.
Once they had arrived at the airport, they sat at their gate and Marjorie was still unusually quiet.
"Gorgeous, Ivy will be fine, I forgot to mention that I've asked autumn to go over and check on her whenever she can." He smiled with an arm wrapped around her.
"Gosh that makes me feel at ease, I'm sure autumn will let us know if anything's wrong." She responded.
"We've only got a few minutes until we board, do you want a drink or anything?" He asked worriedly.
"No my love, I'm alright. I'm waiting for the part where you tell me where we're actually going!!" She giggled.
"Fine, you want to know?" He asked.
"Of course I do!! Tell me!!" She squealed.
Their flight was called and they both stood up, Reece took Marjorie's hand luggage and took her hand.
"Oh that's our flight- New York here we come!!" He laughed.
Marjorie's jaw hit the floor. "No. No you did not!! Oh my gosh. Reece!!" She was lost for words.
"I know you've always wanted to go." He smiled.
Marjorie threw her arms around Reece and shed a few tears, Marjorie and Reece were about to have the best week of their lives, Ivy on the other hand.. was in for a treat.
