Marjorie was sat leaned back in her office chair while on the phone to Ivy, unaware that Carly was stood in the office waiting to speak to Marjorie.
"Yeah I know my love, you're welcome to stay again, whenever you want" Marjorie smiled.
"Thank you, by the way, I should finish school by about 2:45, I'll make my way over as soon as possible."
"Okay, my love, don't rush over, I'm quite busy today."
"I've gotta go mum, I love you."
"I love you t-" Marjorie realised Ivy hung up.
Carly laughed "you guys are totally mother, daughter goals!! So cute"
Marjorie scoffed "I wouldn't call us mum and daughter.. we met a few weeks ago Carly." Marjorie said jokingly.
"I know, but still you're so cute, she even calls you mum" Carly smiled.
"Well, ivy's told me a lot about you two, you seem to be getting on very well, I'm glad you became friends." Marjorie smiled.
"I think we're going to be the bestest of friends."
"Right. We're getting carried away Carly, what can I help you with?"
Carly held a folder in her hand "I just need you to read through this, I think my assessor is coming in today and char also gave me these reports she said they were for you." Carly smiled.
"Thank-you my love" Marjorie took the folder from Carly "you get back to work and I'll give this a read for you, alright?"
"Okay, see you" Carly leaves.
Hours pass by, Marjorie was busy typing away. It was near closing time. Ivy walked into the office and took a seat next to Marjorie.
"You alright sweetheart? How was school?" Marjorie asked.
"Yeah it was okay, I've got some good news though"
"What is it!?" Marjorie questioned.
"My mums gone on a business trip for a few days, so I'm free to see you as much as I want, and there's no chance of us getting caught." Ivy smiled.
"Oh that's perfect my darling, I'm sure Reece won't mind you staying over ours for a couple nights then"
"You sure you'd be okay with me staying?" Ivy asked
Marjorie nodded "it's not my decision, I've told you that you're welcome whenever, it's completely up to you."
"Good job I've got my stuff packed then" Ivy laughed.
"You come prepared" Marjorie laughed back. "Also.."
Ivy looked up "yeah?"
"I've got you a present, just a little something but it means a a lot" Marjorie says as she pulls out a blue Tiffany & co box which she handed to Ivy.
"Oh you didn't have to, thank you though." Ivy began to open the box.
It was a silver heart pendant necklace, the heart was covered in tiny diamonds which sparkled in the light.
"It's beautiful." Ivy was in shock.
"It reminded me of you, now every time you wear it, it'll remind you of me, it'll remind you that I'm always close by." Marjorie smiled "do you want me to put it on you?"
Ivy responded "yes please"
Marjorie put the necklace on Ivy, admiring it.
"My mum would never do anything like this, that's why I'm so grateful to have you."
"You'll always have me, my darling." Marjorie was holding back tears of happiness. She never expected in a million years that she and her daughter would become so close, in fact, their bond was unbreakable.
"Can I hug you?" Ivy asked.
"You don't have to ask my love" Marjorie responded.
Reece walked into the office "am I interrupting?" He asked.
Marjorie pulled away from the hug "no, no you're not" she smiled. "Also Reece-"
"Yeah?" He asked
"I've got a meeting after work, so I'll be home late."
"Shall I take Ivy then? I'm leaving now." He offered.
"Yeah, thank you." She smiled.
"No problem gorgeous, you coming Ivy?"
Ivy and Reece left the office, Marjorie's smile widened as seeing Reece interact with Ivy, she then turned to face her computer.
