A/N: Sorry for a lack of updates! I was having a lot of life updates and lost a lot of motivation! Here's a quick one shot ^^

Glisten had never been good on his own. He struggled to manage himself, his time. All he wanted was for something to listen to, something to help him feel less crazy. And yet...
He was alone. Rodger, his husband, had left for an ichor run just an hour ago. He'd promised to be quick, as quick as he could be with his aching joints. But Glisten couldn't help but groan as he sat in the empty lobby.
How many years had it been since Gardenview was abandoned? How long had it been since their handlers left them behind? Nobody knew. The clocks had long since died out, and Vee had short circuited about a year after they were abandoned. Her clock had been reset, and so they were left without a clue what the time or date was. Had Rodger really been gone an hour, or had it only been five minutes?
This was why Glisten hated being alone. He cupped his face, stomping one foot against the floor as he sniffled. Oh, he wanted nothing more than to curl up in Rodger's arms! Hide his face in the other's jacket, hear that soft voice reassure him that one day, everything would turn out okay. The skin on his shoulders itched. Should he enter the elevator? Should he try and chase after Rodger?
No, no he shouldn't. He'd never catch up with the others, especially alone. Glisten stood, pacing around the lobby. He sniffled, attempting to soothe he worries. He picked at his hand and fingertips. It was a poor habit, peeling his nails away to cope. At least he didn't bite them anymore... He still remembered how Rodger fussed over his bad habit, telling him that it wasn't good for him.
Glisten could hear Rodger's voice in the back of his mind. 'Oh, Glisten. You know you can get an infection if you pull them too short?' He knew Rodger would tell him. Glisten chuckled to himself at the thought, it was one of the more positive things he could focus on as he paced.
"I'm fine." He mumbled in this one sided conversation with his mind. He shut his eyes as he settled back on one of the benches. How long was this going to take?!
He remembered another day, the day he knew for sure that he and Rodger were meant to be. He was waiting, not for the ichor extraction team, but for his handler.
Glisten remembered he had been waiting for about an hour. His handler was nowhere to be found, he later learned she was sick and had to leave early, though nobody told him. He remembered the kids were staring at him strangely in the lobby. He was starting to panic, until Rodger came to him.
"Glisten, your glass is smudged," Rodger had told him. Glisten had been confused at the time, but he now knew it was a white lie to get him away from the crowds before he broke down. When Rodger brought him back to their private rooms, he held Glisten in his arms, whispering soft words to him.
"You're doing great. I love you, and I will never leave you. I swear. Glisten, you truly are marvelous. You can cry if you need." Rodger's words, so long ago, still made him blush. A smile spread across his face now, Rodger was going to return in no time at all.
"Oh Rodger, my darling, when will you get back?" He muttered tiredly. Glisten fidgeted with the sleeves of his shirt now, knowing that it was better than his nails.
Just in time, there was a familiar 'ding!' Glisten turned, seeing the elevator door slide open. He spotted Rodger, his coat tugged aside, the sleeve torn, his glass smudged with melted candies and ichor. Glisten didn't care as he sprinted over, nearly tackling his husband as he hugged Rodger tight.
"Rodger! You're back, in one piece!" Glisten cooed happily, nuzzling into Rodger lovingly. The magnifying glass chuckled softly, patting Glisten's shoulders and tapping their frames together.
"I'm here, sorry to keep you waiting, my dear. Let's go relax, and I'll tell you all about it, hm?" Rodger hummed as the two stood. Glisten swept Rodger up into his arms, giving the detective pause before he laughed.
"It sounds lovely," Glisten nodded, wandering back to the familiar hallway that contained their rooms. "And Rodger?"
"Yes, my love?" Rodger tilted his head, being met with the soft clink of their glass.
"I love you."
