Chapter XXVII | Moving Forward

Gabbie's POV

A week after the battle with Typhon, Jake, Kai, Keith, Jill, and I became very busy. I dealt with the infrastructural damage that Typhon and our team caused. Tapos si Jake naman was busy establishing a company for mythological beings.

Kai, Keith, and Jill are the ones who are coordinating with the government and media to keep our information confidential, but as of the moment they are not succeeding in doing that. Masyadong madaming gustong areglo ang gobyerno for their political benefit, at ang media naman is standing their ground in releasing the truth sa mortals even if it exposes and invades our privacy. We tried bribing them pero they were really sure that they would release the info they collected once it's finalized.

Actually wala naman samin kung malalaman nila kung sino kami. Wala na din naman kaming matatago dahil alam na din naman ng rebellion kung sino kami at ang mga kapangyarihan namin, wala na kaming tataguan. If our information would make the mortals feel safer and at ease, then it's fine. The only downside of this is the government would really try their very best to control us and follow their directives, kaya Jake is doing his best to finish the company.

"Noted on this Mr. De Valenti. Bali kausapin ko na lang po yung mga contractors natin na kumuha pa ng mas madaming tao para maabot natin yung deadline na binigay ng government." Saad ng secretary ng C.O.O. ng company namin.

"Yes please. Paki coordinate na lang din yan sa secretary ni Mommy para maayos din niya." Utos ko.

"Noted po, I'll make sure po na makaabot po ito sa President."

Napakamot na lang ako sa ulo dahil sa stress. The government kept changing their given deadlines for restoration. They said na they will sue us kung hindi matapos sa binigay nilang deadline ang mga nasirang structures. Sobrang stressful sa part ko dahil I'm practicing to be a doctor and not someone who runs Dad's company dito sa mortal realms.

Hindi ko naman din mabitawan dahil mom is working remotely for this, and totoo naman na partly cause din kami ng damage dito, that's why I meed to fix this.

I then left the office and went sa restaurant kung san kami magkikita ni Drew. Medyo excited ako to see him, pero at the same time may malakas akong hunch sa possibleng mangyare. I think that he'll stop pursuing me. Malakas ang kutob ko kasi he didn't contact me after the fight with Typhon. If that happens, I'll be sad but at the same time grateful for him.

When I arrived at the restaurant, he was already there. He greeted me with a smile. "Good evening gorgeous. Order up, my treat. Alam kong pagod ka."

"Thank you. Sobrang stressful talaga to deal with the damage after Typhon's attack." I answered.

I ordered food and started to catch up with him. I sensed that he's being casual with me and it felt like I was with Drew who was my friend and not my lover.

"Can I ask you something?" I boldly asked.

He sighed. "I was distracting you from the atmosphere we're building, pero alam kong mapapansin mo na din naman. First, I'm sorry for doing this lalo na in this stressful time. I'm sorry for not contacting you for a week. You don't have to ask anymore Gabbie. Ayokong mahirapan ka pa. I will not pursue you anymore. I want us to stay as close friends, and I want you to choose Keith who I know will make you happy..."

A tear escaped from my eyes. I anticipated it na din naman. Pero, regardless of what I feel for Keith, I loved Drew. The moments we shared were valuable to me.

Drew wiped my tears and smiled at me.

"Can... Can I- I- ask wh-... Why?" I said, sobbing.

"During the battle with Typhon, I saw how Keith was determined to risk his life for you. Nakita ko din how much he's willing to sacrifice his life for you. When he challenged me sa bahay nila, alam ko naman na I will back down. I just wanted to know if he's genuine with his love for you. It showed during the fight Gabbie. Saka kahit ako naman ang piliin mo Gabbie, I know na Keith would be always in your heart. Ayokong dumating sa point na ako ang pipiliin mo pero hindi ko naman mabibigay yung saya na kayang ibigay sayo ni Keith. I love you Gabbie, kaya I want you to be happy. You would be happier kung si Keith ang kasama mo." He explained genuinely.
