"No, but I'll go with you." I let go off her shoulder, kissing her cheek without thinking first. I noticed her face blushing, looking around for eyes looking at us. "Sorry." I apologized. Sometimes when I forgot about myself, I forgot that I shouldn't have done things like that in public, since she wasn't comfortable with it.

Spending my time there with these people was not my exact plan for the day. I imagined Abbie and I curling up in bed, only getting out to eat, drink or go to the bathroom.

I followed Grace, looking back over my shoulder for a second to catch Lillian talking to Abigail. I didn't come here for anything Hayley said or offered me. It was purely because Lillian wanted me to give in to her girlfriend. So I did.

"So are you two back together?" Grace handed me a drink, which I kindly refused, since I had to drive my girlfriend home.

"Yes." I couldn't and didn't even try to stop my idiot grin from forming on my face. I was happy. Very fucking happy. "Very back."

"I'm glad." Her genuine smile reached her eyes, looking over my shoulder, her smile falling from her face. "Shit." She put the glass back down, and I didn't even have a chance to turn around before a hand touched my shoulder.

"I thought I told you to stay home." I knew I was rolling my eyes before I even started doing it. I shifted to the side a little, causing Ava's hand to slip off my shoulder.

"I thought I told you that I don't care." Grace shot back quickly. The expression on my face was nothing but pure surprise as I stepped to the side, standing next to Grace, facing Ava.

The blonde woman was just as stunned as I was, but she had a mix of anger and hurt on her face too. "You know that this," She pointed between them. "does not work like that." Her eyes dropped to me. "Good evening."

"Hello" I nodded, handing her the drink Grace placed on the counter, but she refused.

"She has a birthday once a year." Grace tried to snatch the glass back from me, but I dodged her attempt, earning an eye roll from her. "We can have sex anytime you want."

"This is not about sex, Grace. This is about me, asking you to stay at home and you refusing it." Ava took the glass from me, placing it far away from Grace onto the counter, signing that she should stop drinking for tonight.

I didn't really know how I ended up being a part of this conversation and suddenly I didn't know how to leave it. I didn't want to leave Grace behind if she wasn't comfortable, but I would rather sit next to Abbie if I had a chance to choose.

"But I didn't want to." I believe Grace thought she was proving a point, but Ava had none of it.

"You can't just obey me when it's convenient for you and disobey me when it's inconvenient. It doesn't work like that, bella." Her tone was softer now and this made it even more awkward that I was still present next to them. "I had plans for us. I wanted 10 minutes of your night. That was all I needed."

"Oh." Blush covered Grace's cheeks as she chewed on her bottom lip embarrassed. "I thought you just don't want me to come." She chuckled nervously.

"No." Ava shook her head, stepping closer to my best friend, but still keeping a good distance between them. They are so weird. "I wanted to surprise you and then I would have let you go on your way. But you don't communicate like an adult, you are just acting like a child."

"What surprise?" Grace found the important part.

"I'm not telling you." Ava smiled at the curiosity, flipping her blonde hair behind her shoulder. "You ruined it, so you are not getting it." She crossed her arms in front of her black dress. I saw it on her before so she must have been coming here straight from work.
