Yeonjun had always cherished your friendship—it was his safe haven in a world that often felt overwhelming. You understood him in a way no one else did, and he relied on that connection more than he cared to admit. But lately, everything felt off. You'd grown distant, your warmth replaced by a guarded edge that he couldn't break through. It hurt, more than he thought it would, but he convinced himself it was nothing.
Until he heard the rumor.
The words hit him like a gut punch: *You were moving away.*
Panic clawed at his chest as he sought you out, his mind spiraling with unanswered questions. He found you sitting alone, your gaze distant and tired, and the sight broke something inside him.
"Why?" he demanded, his voice trembling. "Why are you leaving? What happened?"
You hesitated, your expression pained, and for a moment, he thought you wouldn't answer. But then, in a voice barely above a whisper, you admitted the truth.
"It's her," you said, your tone brittle. "Your girlfriend. She's been spreading lies about me, making sure I feel like I don't belong. I can't... I can't stay here anymore."
Yeonjun felt the ground shift beneath him. Anger flared in his chest, hot and suffocating, as the pieces finally clicked into place. How had he not seen it? How had he let this happen? Without a second thought, he ended things with her that night, the sting of betrayal and regret fueling his every word. But ending the relationship wasn't enough to ease the ache in his chest.
He had to see you.
Racing to your house, he barely stopped to catch his breath before pounding on the door. When you opened it, suitcase in hand, the sight hit him harder than any of the rumors.
"Don't go," he pleaded, his voice breaking under the weight of his emotions. "Please, don't leave. I can't—" He stopped, his breath hitching as he struggled to find the words. "I can't lose you. You're the one thing that feels real, and I've been too stupid to see it until now."
His voice cracked as he confessed, "I think I'm in love with you. I think I've always been."
Your eyes widened, the walls you'd built around yourself crumbling as his words sank in. With a shaky breath, you admitted your own feelings, the weight of weeks of pain and longing finally spilling free.
Yeonjun stepped closer, wrapping his arms around you with a desperation that left no room for doubt. "I'm sorry," he whispered against your hair, his voice trembling. "I should've protected you. I should've seen you."
As he held you, he vowed to never make the same mistake again. No matter what it took, he would fight for you, because losing you wasn't an option.
