At 10 p.m., Virat returned from the meeting and saw Rohit asleep at his desk, his head resting on scattered papers. Aman was curled up on the couch, still asleep.
Virat tapped lightly on Rohit's desk to wake him. "Sorry, Sir," Rohit mumbled as he stirred awake.
"It's fine, just wrap up your work," Virat replied calmly.
He then nudged Aman awake. "Come on, wake up. Don't you want to actually sleep tonight?" he teased. Aman groggily sat up, rubbing his eyes.
Both headed off to freshen up, one at a time, while Virat finished his pending tasks, quickly wrapping them up in half an hour.
"Would you prefer eating at a restaurant, or should I order in?" Virat asked as they settled back into their seats.
"I'll manage," Rohit said quickly.
"Order," Aman responded without hesitation.
Virat decided to order food.
"But Sir—" Rohit began.
"Any problem, Rohit?" Virat asked, his tone firm.
Rohit shook his head quickly. "No, Sir."
Rohit fidgeted a bit, clearly uneasy. Virat, still focused on his laptop, asked, "What is it, Rohit? Just say it."
"Can I sit in the balcony for a while?" Rohit asked nervously, his voice barely above a whisper.
Virat looked up, raising an eyebrow, as if checking whether he had suddenly grown horns for being asked such an unusual question.
Aman chuckled at the exchange and nudged Rohit. "Come on, let's go."
As they reached the balcony, Aman teased, "Why do you ask such naive, obvious things like they're life-changing decisions?"
Rohit flushed with embarrassment, scratching the back of his head.
"Relax. Just chill for a bit," Aman said, gesturing for him to sit.
Rohit took a seat, gazing out at the peaceful view, letting the cool breeze calm his nerves.
They sat quietly, the cool breeze from the balcony brushing against their faces. Virat's voice broke the silence, "Aman, water."
Without hesitation, Aman stood, walking inside to grab the bottle Virat had already placed on the table.
"Migraine causes dehydration," Aman explained upon his return, noticing Rohit's questioning gaze.
Rohit nodded thoughtfully, then turned his attention back to the view. The city lights twinkled like scattered stars, blending seamlessly with the night sky. "The one thing I love the most about this office," Rohit began, "is how calming this view is."
Aman smiled and nodded, adding, "Yes, for sure it is."
Rohit hesitated for a moment before asking softly, "Do you think he's upset with me?" His eyes flickered to the balcony glass where Virat sat, engrossed in reading something.
Aman raised a brow, confused. "For what?"
Rohit sighed and explained, "I messed up with those numbers earlier. It was such a silly mistake."
Aman spoke gently, his tone reassuring. "Rohit, mistakes happen to everyone. Sure, he might have snapped at you in the moment, but that doesn't mean he's upset with you. His anger is always limited to the situation, nothing more. He knows your potential. Trust me, he's kept track of all the work you've done these past six months. It's your hard work that's earned you this close working relationship with him. He trusts you."
