The next week went by in a blur for all of them. Virat and Rohit were engrossed in their work, trying to get everything done. Jassi and Aman were working with Robert to identify who was leaking information while also managing the Delhi branch.
Rohit could see how stressed and tired Virat was, juggling the office workload alongside the demands of the new project. He admired Virat's determination but felt heartbroken seeing him so overwhelmed.
He noticed Virat smoking twice during the week: once when an employee lost an important file, causing a difficult situation with a client, and another time when Rohit made a mistake. Virat had controlled himself from shouting at Rohit and instead calmed his nerves by stepping away to smoke.
That same night, after Virat took a shower to wash away the stress, he came out only to be engulfed in a hug by Rohit. "Scold me for my mistakes. I won't feel bad, Virat, but please don't stress yourself like this," Rohit mumbled into Virat's chest.
Virat wrapped his arms around Rohit, feeling a sense of peace. He then patiently explained the situation to Rohit, who listened carefully and learned from his mistakes.
The entire week, they worked at Rohit's apartment, spending their time cuddling on the couch and bed, cooking meals together, and getting to know each other better.
They shared forehead and cheek kisses, though Rohit still felt a bit shy. While their physical proximity was increasing day by day, they both cherished this gradual and tender phase.
Due to maintenance work in the area where Rohit lived, they moved to Virat's house after a week.
"If you don't come to bed now and sleep, I won't talk to you," Rohit snapped, his tone firm as he noticed it was 3 a.m. and Virat was still engrossed in books and files.
Virat froze for a moment. He couldn't handle the thought of Rohit not talking to him—it was rare for him to sound this serious. "Ro, I have insomnia. I can't sleep for a long time," Virat admitted, following Rohit into the bedroom.
"And why do you think that is?" Rohit said, his voice filled with concern. "You're so stressed all the time, Virat. You don't even rest properly. It's affecting your health—don't you see that?"
Virat let out a tired sigh, his shoulders slumping. Rohit's gaze softened immediately. He stepped closer and pulled Virat into a tight hug.
Virat buried his face into Rohit's neck, seeking comfort. "I'm sorry, baby," Virat murmured, his voice quiet and vulnerable. It was the first time Rohit had heard him use that nickname, and it filled his heart with warmth and love, a feeling he couldn't quite put into words.
"I'm so worried about you. Please, let me help," Rohit said, his voice gentle but insistent. Virat nodded silently, still wrapped in the embrace.
Taking his hand, Rohit led him to the bed. "I'm here," he whispered reassuringly. Virat rested his head on Rohit's chest, and Rohit began stroking his hair tenderly.
In a rare reversal of roles, Rohit lifted Virat's chin gently, meeting his gaze. He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Virat's forehead, then to his eyelids.
With his thumb, he brushed over Virat's cheek, his touch filled with affection. Virat instinctively cuddled closer, burying his face against Rohit's chest, his eyes finally fluttering shut as he surrendered to sleep.
The next morning, Virat and Rohit were enjoying coffee when Virat received a call from Aman. He put it on speaker as he ate his breakfast.
"Bhai, we've found a lead for the London project. I know you assigned other work, but while working on that, we stumbled upon something that could really help. You should come here, and we can work on it together. Are you listening, or are you giving me the silent treatment?" Aman asked in one excited breath.
Virat shook his head at his younger brother's energy, a faint smile playing on his lips. Rohit chuckled at Aman's rapid-fire enthusiasm, while Jassi, on the other end of the line, grinned as he watched Aman pace the room.
"Aman, is there a chair near you?" Virat asked calmly.
"Yes, Bhai, but—"
"Sit down and drink some water," Virat instructed.
Aman, a little sheepishly, obeyed. "Now explain. What have you found?" Virat asked, and Aman excitedly outlined the leads and points that could be pivotal for the project.
"We'll be there by evening. Arrange for a hotel nearby," Virat said, getting up to check the relevant files. Rohit quietly began tidying the kitchen.
"Bhai, you can stay at my place," Jassi offered over the phone. Virat initially resisted, not wanting to impose, but after much convincing, he agreed.
Later, Aman hugged Jassi, his excitement evident. Jassi reciprocated, their bond growing stronger as they worked together. They were busy most of the time, but shared small, meaningful moments during meals, creating a sense of camaraderie.
That evening, Aman arrived to pick up Virat and Rohit, as Jassi was tied up in a meeting. Virat hugged Aman warmly, patting his head. "All okay?" he asked gently. Aman nodded, smiling. He hugged Rohit too before they set off for Jassi's house.
During the drive, Aman couldn't stop talking about Jassi. His enthusiasm brought a smile to Virat's face, happy to see his brother and Jassi building such close relationship. He also sensed there might be something more between them but trusted Aman's judgment.
Rohit, however, felt a strange unease hearing Jassi's name and the fondness in Aman's voice. Virat noticed and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, silently asking if something was wrong. Rohit shook his head, brushing it off.
When they arrived at Jassi's apartment, Aman rang the bell. The door opened, and both Rohit and Jassi froze in place, the color draining from their faces.
Jassi looked like he might faint, and Aman quickly steadied him, helping him to the couch. Virat held a visibly shaken Rohit by the shoulders and led him inside.
Aman handed Jassi a glass of water. "Are you okay?" he asked softly.
Jassi nodded but stayed silent.
"Jassi," Rohit called out in a low, tentative voice.
Jassi stood abruptly, his voice sharp with anger and pain. "Don't even try, Mr. Rohit Sharma."
The sadness behind his anger was visible, hanging heavy in the room. Without another word, Jassi turned and went to his room, leaving everyone stunned.
Aman glanced at Virat, who quietly took Rohit to the guest room. Aman then followed Jassi to check on him.
Inside the room, Virat sat beside a devastated Rohit.
