"Aman, wake up—we've reached," Jassi shook him a little, to which Aman opened his eyes. "Sorry, it's just the travel. I—" Aman began apologizing.
"It's okay, let's go inside," Jassi said softly.
Jassi led him to the spare room. "Do you have any food allergies? I was ordering dinner," he asked.
"Mushroom," Aman replied from the room before heading to freshen up.
After 30 minutes, they were sitting in the living room, eating dinner in silence. Just as Jassi was about to say something, Aman's phone rang.
"Yes, bhai, I had my dinner and medicine," Aman answered, and Jassi knew it was Virat's call. He moved to the balcony to talk. Jassi picked up a file and started reading it while sipping a glass of wine.
Aman came back and sat beside him on the couch. Jassi set the file aside. "What happened?" he asked, noticing the stress on his face.
"My head is aching from the travel, but I couldn't tell bhai, of course. It's hard to hide things from him, especially about my health," Aman rested his head on the couch.
Jassi got up and brought a cold compress. "A small warning," he said, placing it gently on his head. "It will numb the pain," he added softly. Aman closed his eyes, leaning back.
Jassi couldn't help but stare at him. This was the first time—he couldn't take his eyes off him.
"Are you staring at me?" Aman asked, opening his tired eyes. "Got that quality from my brother, I could tell," he said with a gentle smile.
Jassi felt a blush creep up his face. "Umm, I—"
Aman leaned forward slowly. Seeing Jassi close his eyes, he held his hand and kissed his cheek. "Don't worry, I know how it is when you find someone attractive at first sight. I felt the same," he said, surprising Jassi, who touched his cheek where Aman had kissed him.
"Your smile is beautiful," Aman added, noticing Jassi's smile.
"Shall we take it slow? I don't know if I feel this on first sight, but still, I feel it's a cliché concept," Jassi said.
Aman chuckled. "Of course," he replied, resting his head on Jassi's shoulder.
Jassi set the cold compress aside and gently pressed his forehead against Aman's, earning small painful groans from him. It took about an hour for Aman to calm down and fall asleep. Jassi helped him to the spare room and covered him properly.
He hesitated for a moment but then, noticing Aman had fallen asleep, Jassi leaned forward and kissed his forehead.
Meanwhile, they reached Rohit's house, and Virat saw that Rohit was in a deep sleep. He quietly got out of the car, picked him up, and tucked him into bed. After changing, Virat joined Rohit on the bed, caressing his head softly and kissing his forehead.
He returned to his files, knowing he had to finish them as soon as possible. He was tense for the second time in his life—what if he lost everything?
Before he could overthink any further, Rohit snuggled closer to him. Virat opened his eyes to see Rohit, half-asleep, looking up at him. "When did we reach? You picked me up?" Rohit asked, his voice still groggy.
"Two hours ago. Want to change into more comfortable clothes?" Virat asked gently.
Rohit got up and changed, then came back and rested his head on Virat's chest. "Aren't you sleepy?" Rohit asked, closing his eyes.
"Not yet," Virat replied, running his fingers through Rohit's hair and setting his files aside to read them in the morning.
"Did Aman have his dinner and medicine?" Rohit asked, fully cuddling him.
"Yes, Ro, he did. Now sleep, I'm here," Virat said softly, kissing his forehead. Rohit fell asleep soon after.
"All okay, Jassi?" Virat texted, feeling like Aman was hiding something.
"Yes, he just slept, bhai," Jassi texted back, closing the door to Aman's room.
Virat felt relieved that at least Jassi was there with Aman. "Now you stop reading the file and go to sleep, Jassi. Don't deny it—I know you," Virat texted.
Jassi smiled and put the file away. "Good night, bhai. Take care," he texted.
"Good night," Virat replied.
Virat set aside the files he had been reading. He felt Rohit snuggling closer to him, and he closed his eyes, holding him tight.
