Virat woke up first and saw Rohit sleeping peacefully, he removed his hold from his hand. He got freshened up and decided to make Rohit's favourite breakfast.
He prepared everything and was just moving towards the room to wake Rohit up, but he froze in his step when he heard screaming.
"Virat, Virat—Jassi, Aman, please, please don't go," it was Rohit's voice.
He went to the room and saw Rohit shivering and repeating the same words again and again.
Virat was shocked to hear all of their names and see Rohit's state. "Shh, Ro—it's a dream, wake up—I am here with you," Virat softly brought Rohit's head to his chest and kept calming him down.
After 10 minutes, Rohit calmed down and woke up.
"Good morning," Virat greeted gently, to which Rohit gave him a smile and snuggled into his chest.
"You know I have prepared your favourite breakfast, so you can be lazy after that—get freshened up quick," said Virat, to which Rohit went immediately.
"Waffles and pancakes!" Virat heard Rohit's excited voice upon seeing the plates.
Virat hugged Rohit from behind. "Liked it?" he asked, and Rohit leaned back into his hug. "Loved it," he said. Virat kissed his cheek and made him sit.
Rohit was just staring at Virat lovingly as he was making him eat everything properly.
How did he fail to understand this man was the only question in Rohit's mind.
They both had finished their breakfast. Rohit helped Virat wrap everything up; it was after three days that he had a proper meal. It felt good.
Rohit was looking out over the city as Virat was talking to someone on the phone.
He could not help but look at him—how perfect a human he was—not perfect, but he just handled everything brilliantly, and Rohit failed to understand that.
His fear got the better of his judgment; he was supposed to be with him and help Virat when he needed him, but instead, what did he do?
He pushed him away so far that he had to go somewhere to clear his head and take a break.
"Aman and Jassi will be reaching till evening," said Virat, sitting beside Rohit in the living room.
Rohit nodded at that and rested his head on Virat's shoulder. Virat was worried about his silent behaviour and the dream he had in the morning.
"What's wrong?" asked Virat, keeping his hand on his, which was holding Virat's arm. "Nothing," Rohit said, not wanting to worry him with his problems.
Virat sighed at that. He knew Rohit was hiding from him because his behaviour suggested otherwise. He knew his leaving had affected him a lot.
He didn't regret taking that time, but he felt sad about Rohit being silent and that his actions had triggered his fear again.
"What was that dream about, Ro?" Virat asked carefully.
Rohit got stiff at that mention. "What dream? I have no idea what you are talking about!" said Rohit and went to the balcony, not wanting to relive his nightmare again.
Virat followed him, only to see Rohit gripping the balcony railings so tightly that it was hurting him. He gently removed the hold and engulfed him in a hug.
"It's okay, baby, you don't have to hurt yourself over it. We can talk about it later, but we are not going to let it go. We have to talk about it," Virat said softly, rubbing his back, to which Rohit buried his face in his chest, feeling safe.
Rohit broke the hug after some time, feeling uneasy. Virat noticed how tired and pale he looked. "Ro?" he called, seeing him a bit restless.
But before Rohit could reply to him, he suddenly felt nauseous—he ran to the bathroom, with Virat following behind.
Virat helped him up once done. Rohit washed his face. "Sorry," he said, feeling guilty about how Virat had made his favourite breakfast and now this.
"You are an idiot if you say sorry for this," Virat scolded him lightly and helped him to the room.
Rohit sat with the support of the headrest while Virat covered him with the comforter up to his stomach and handed him a glass of water.
Virat checked his forehead. "Do you want me to call the doctor? Is there any stomach ache?" he asked softly, holding Rohit's hand.
"No, it's just—I..."
"When was the last time you ate a proper meal last week?" Virat asked a bit sternly, seeing him fumbling over his words.
Rohit looked down. "I don't remember," he answered honestly, knowing Virat would know if he lied. "Please don't be angry," he said with moist eyes.
"Yeah, sure, first be careless and then say don't be angry," Virat mocked, feeling worried about his health.
Tears just made their way through Rohit's cheeks hearing those words.
Virat calmed himself down, seeing him crying. "Ro, don't cry now; you will deteriorate your health more," he cupped his cheeks and wiped his tears.
"If you didn't have meals properly for a week, then why did you eat so much at once? Hmm? You should have told me, na," Virat caressed his cheek softly.
"I didn't want to ruin your mood; you made everything with so much love, and I wanted to eat it—I felt like I could handle it, but I couldn't. I am sorry," Rohit said in a low voice.
"It's okay, baby, you don't have to be sorry! But from now on, we have to make sure you eat properly in moderation until your health gets better, okay?"
Rohit nodded at that. Virat kissed his forehead lovingly.
"Why don't you try and get some rest? It's the weekend anyway," Virat said and made him lie down properly on the bed.
He sat beside him and patted his head to provide him some warmth, to which Rohit dozed off in some time.
Virat made a mental note to take conscious efforts towards Rohit's health.
And also, he was going to talk to him about the dream— Jassi and Aman coming home would make it better.
