Virat was preparing dinner since Aman and Jassi were coming over. He decided to make their favorite dishes and a light meal for Rohit and himself.
He knew Rohit wouldn't be able to eat a heavy meal, so he planned to join him with the lighter option to make him feel less alone.
Virat received a text from Aman saying they had arrived. He opened the door, only to be enveloped in a hug by Aman before he even got a chance to see his face. Jassi smiled, knowing how excited Aman was to meet Virat.
"Bacha, I'm not going anywhere," Virat said, rubbing his back and gently patting his head as he felt sniffling and tears soaking his shirt.
"I missed you so much," Aman said, breaking the hug. Virat wiped his tears and lovingly cupped his cheeks. "I know, I missed you too. Now go and get settled in the room with Jassi," he said softly.
Virat then hugged Jassi, who was standing in a corner. "I'm sorry," Jassi whispered in a low voice.
Virat sighed. "It's okay," he said gently, ruffling Jassi's hair.
They both went to freshen up and, sometime later, joined Virat in the kitchen. Jassi was helping chop vegetables, while Aman sat on a stool, blabbering about anything and everything. Virat listened intently, as if it were the most important topic in the world.
Rohit woke up and noticed it was evening. Looking around, he realized Virat wasn't there, and he was alone in the room. He began wondering if Virat had left again or if it was just his headache making him think irrationally.
Slowly steadying himself, he somehow managed to make his way toward the living room.
"Bhai/Rohit/Ro," he heard three voices as he stumbled on his feet. A pair of hands steadied him, and he opened his eyes to find himself leaning against Virat's chest.
Virat, Jassi, and Aman had been alerted by the sound of Rohit's painful groan. They noticed him walking in a daze, holding his head, just as he was about to stumble. They called out to get his attention, and Virat rushed to him.
"Ro, are you okay? What's wrong?" Virat asked, helping him back to the room while the other two followed.
Virat gently made him sit on the bed, propping him up against the headrest.
"I thought you left again, and my head is throbbing with pain," Rohit said in a low voice.
Jassi handed a glass of water to Virat, who helped Rohit take a few sips. The water seemed to help, as Rohit was able to open his eyes a little. Aman had hopped onto the bed on his other side and held his hand.
"When did you guys get here?" Rohit asked, glancing at Aman on his side and Jassi standing beside Virat.
"Sometime back," Jassi answered quietly.
"You guys go and finish preparing dinner so Rohit can have his painkiller. I'll stay here with him," Aman assured them.
Virat hesitated to leave, remembering Rohit's earlier comment about him leaving again. However, Aman's reassurance eased his concern. Reluctantly, Virat and Jassi returned to the kitchen.
Aman closed the door behind them, though they didn't notice as they were already engrossed in meal preparation.
"Kya hua, Rohit? You know you can tell me anything, right? We're best friends, and I promise not to share it with Virat bhai or Jassi," Aman said gently.
In response, Rohit hugged him tightly and broke down, crying hard. Aman let him cry as much as he needed, even shedding a tear or two himself.
"I thought he left me again—I saw all three of you leaving me—I don't want to be alone, Aman. I don't deserve him. I should have been there for him, but instead, I got selfish and took him for granted," Rohit said, wiping his tears harshly.
Aman held his hands gently. "Rohit, no matter what happens, just remember this—none of us are leaving you, ever," he said firmly.
"I know we've made many mistakes, and we've hurt bhai. Honestly, I still don't even know everything I've done wrong. But that's not the point—I'm not justifying that we were right. We're human, Rohit. Mistakes happen. What's important is that we learn from them and make sure we don't repeat them.
"Everything is new—these relationships: me and Jassi, you and bhai—they're still growing, and they will take time to flourish. It's okay if bhai needed a break. Now, you need to let it go and talk to him. I'm sure he'll be all ears, and you'll feel better," Aman explained.
"You don't need to ruin your health over this, Rohit. It won't help," Aman added gently.
Rohit couldn't help but chuckle. "How wise you've become. I can't believe you're the same person who whines about tying a tie with Virat," he said, wiping his tears.
"How mean!" Aman exclaimed, feigning offense.
"See? This is exactly what I was talking about," Rohit teased, and they both laughed at that.
"Thanks, Aman," Rohit said softly. Aman smiled warmly in response and then opened the door.
Aman helped Rohit outside, as he wanted to sit in the fresh air. Meanwhile, Virat and Jassi had set the dinner table in the balcony. Virat and Rohit had soup and salad, as it was easier for Rohit to digest, while Aman and Jassi enjoyed their meal.
"Don't worry. I'll make it again for you once you feel better," Virat said when Rohit expressed his desire to eat the other dishes instead of the soup.
Once dinner was done, Jassi and Aman helped Virat clean up. They wished both Virat and Rohit good night before heading to bed, tired from their travels.
Virat joined Rohit in the balcony, where he was sitting and soaking in the cool breeze. He wrapped a blanket around Rohit and handed him the painkiller.
Virat gently held Rohit's hand, and Rohit rested his head on Virat's shoulder.
"I'm here with you," Virat whispered, pressing a soft kiss to Rohit's forehead.
Rohit closed his eyes in contentment, feeling a sense of peace. Slowly, he began to believe that Virat wouldn't leave him again—every gesture from Virat reassured him of that.
