Rohit woke up after two hours and noticed he was lying comfortably in bed, covered with a comforter.
He saw Virat making tea in the kitchen and smiled at the sight. How he loved having Virat in his home— Virat made it feel complete. He wanted to hug him so tightly and never let him go.
"Freshen up, tea is ready," Virat said, noticing that Rohit was awake. They had tea and continued working until after dinner.
It was 11 PM when Rohit started feeling hungry. He looked at Virat, who was engrossed in his laptop.
Rohit poked his arm to get his attention, but Virat didn't respond. "Viratttt," whined Rohit.
"Yes, Ro?" asked Virat, still focused on what he was reading.Fifteen minutes later, Virat finished reading and noticed Rohit sitting there with a file in his hands, not even paying attention to it.
"What were you saying?" asked Virat gently. Rohit looked at him, then went back to staring at the file.
Virat understood that he was upset for being ignored like that. "Ro, I'm sorry. Please don't be sad," he said, taking the file from his hands and placing it on the table. Virat cupped his cheeks.
"I'm hungry, and you're just engrossed in your laptop," whined Rohit.
Virat found it really adorable and was happy that Rohit felt comfortable enough to be himself around him, even in moments like this.
"Want to go outside and eat? It would give us a change of pace. We can also have your favorite cheesecake later?" Virat asked softly, caressing Rohit's cheek. Rohit happily agreed.
"But it's almost 11:30. We might not find anything open," Rohit said, to which Virat simply held his hand and led him to the car.
"I know plenty of spots. Don't worry," Virat reassured him as he drove toward their destination.
It was a bit far, but Virat thought it would be nice to spend some time away from work discussions with Rohit. He noticed Rohit enjoying the cool breeze.
Virat couldn't help but adore him. He gently held Rohit's hand, and Rohit looked up at him, noticing the smile on Virat's face.
He blushed when he saw their hands resting on Rohit's thigh.
"Street food!" Rohit squealed in excitement seeing where Virat stopped the car.
"Only for today," Virat replied quickly. "From tomorrow, it's homemade food."
"Let's eat in the car," Virat said, motioning for Rohit to sit in the back seat.
Rohit agreed, as he was tired and just wanted to be with Virat. It didn't matter that it was just the two of them.
Virat opened the door and saw Rohit dozing off. Just a moment ago, he was whining about being hungry and not getting my attention, and now he's asleep? Such a baby, Virat thought to himself, smiling softly.
He sat beside him, carefully placing the food on his side. "Ro, wake up," he said gently.
Rohit just rested his head on Virat's shoulder. "I'm so tired," he mumbled.
Virat frowned. Is it just the tiredness from the past few days, or is Rohit finally letting go of his feelings now that he's exhausted? Normally, if he's in work mode, he's so robotic, doing whatever I expect of him without showing any vulnerability.
"At least eat something, then you can sleep," Virat suggested, offering a bite of food to Rohit, who was still half-asleep.
Rohit woke up and sat up straight, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Sorry, I'll have it," he said.
"Ro, there's nothing to apologize for. And I can feed you, right?" Virat asked, a playful tone in his voice.
Rohit accepted the bite from Virat's hand. "This is so tasty," he said, which made Virat smile with happiness.
Once they were done, Virat drove to the cheesecake location.
"We're not eating it here?" Rohit asked, seeing Virat take the cheesecake with them instead of letting him eat it in the car.
"No, wait for 5 minutes," said Virat, telling him to hold it as he drove to another location.
"Rohit, 5 minutes. Stop looking at me like that," he teased, noticing the childlike expression on Rohit's face as he eyed the cheesecake.
Virat stopped the car. They got out, and Rohit was met by the cool breeze on his face. In front of them was a lake, and the stars shining brightly above.
"You like it?" Virat whispered in his ear, which surprised Rohit. His knees felt weak just thinking about how close Virat was.
"I love it," Rohit said once he was sure his voice was steady. He turned and saw Virat looking at him.
"I thought we could use some time away from all the chaos. Just us," Virat said, intertwining their hands and kissing the back of Rohit's hand, which made Rohit feel overwhelmed.
They ate their cheesecake and then stood side by side for a while, soaking in the cold breeze.
Virat was about to open the car door when he was surprised by Rohit's hug. His back was against the car for support before he could even balance himself.
"Thank you so much for this and for the whole day. It means so much to me," Rohit mumbled into the hug.
Virat wrapped his arms around his waist, hugging him back. "I'm glad you liked it, Ro," he said softly.
"I love when you call me Ro," Rohit said, breaking the hug but Virat's hands still resting on his waist.
Virat smiled at that, and Rohit got lost in his smile and brown eyes. This was the first time he was seeing Virat smile so genuinely. He noticed how Virat's eyes seemed to shine when he was happy.
Rohit didn't know what it was, but something was pulling him toward Virat. He leaned in, making Virat surprised. Virat waited, not wanting to overstep.
He noticed Rohit leaning his face sideways, and then he kissed his cheek lovingly, letting his lips linger there for a moment.
Rohit buried his face in Virat's chest, feeling shy afterward. Virat chuckled, seeing how adorable he looked blushing.
"It's me who should be blushing, Ro," he said, to which Rohit just moved closer, not knowing how to look at him after that.
"Ghar chale?" Virat asked, and Rohit nodded. He got into the car, and Virat started driving toward Rohit's apartment.
"Today was really special," Rohit said in a low voice, and Virat noticed how close he was to dozing off.
Virat caressed his cheek softly, and Rohit just closed his eyes, leaning into his touch.
Virat slowed the car and covered him with his jacket, knowing it would take a little time to get home.
