The doctor was checking Aman while Jassi was holding Rohit's hand tightly, feeling scared about what had happened suddenly to Aman, while Virat was impatiently waiting for the doctor to say something.
They were in the living room, and the only noise heard was Virat impatiently tapping his leg.
"What is it?" Virat asked as soon as the doctor came outside.
"Did he feel dizzy or have any problems keeping the food down recently?" the doctor asked, to which Jassi replied, "No, nothing of that sort. He once felt dizzy, but his BP was low. Once he had medicine and proper rest, he was fine."
"Virat, we need to examine further. For now, his BP went drastically low, so I have given him an injection. He will wake up in an hour or so. Once he wakes up, bring him to the hospital for a check-up. I will set an appointment for the afternoon," the doctor said and took his leave.
Virat rubbed his face, feeling worried. "Rohit, help me prepare some sandwiches. We will be occupied the whole day there—I don't want anyone else to get sick now. Jassi, you be with Aman till the time we do this," he said, composing himself.
He reminded himself he couldn't panic; he had to handle it calmly. Once he knew what it was, he had to call Rahul bhai.
Jassi went into the room while Rohit and Virat went into the kitchen.
Rohit noticed Virat was trying hard not to panic—how he was gripping the counter or the knife while cutting the vegetables.
Rohit slowly took the knife away and pulled him into a hug. "He will be fine, Vi. Don't you worry," he said softly, rubbing his back. Virat buried his face in his shoulder, hugging him tightly.
Once they were done, they took the plates to the other room and gave them to Jassi. "Eat, Jassi," Virat instructed. Even he didn't feel like eating, but he knew he needed to keep himself and others well.
Half an hour later, Virat heard Aman's voice and held his hand quickly. "Kiddo, aaram se—don't rush, slowly adjust to your surroundings. Me, Jassi, and Rohit are here with you, okay?" he said gently, caressing his head.
Virat noticed him frowning and somewhat in pain, so he tried to reassure him. It took 10 minutes for Aman to register his surroundings; everything was so blurry for him.
Virat and Jassi helped him sit with the support of a headrest. "You okay, bacha?" asked Virat gently.
"I don't know, bhai. I am feeling very restless—please open the windows," Aman said in a low voice. Rohit immediately did that. Jassi helped him drink some water. "Better?" Jassi asked after 10 minutes, to which Aman nodded.
Aman leaned on Jassi, who wrapped his arm around him. He rested his head on his chest. "Kiddo, we have to visit the hospital for a check-up in two hours. Would you like to eat something?" asked Virat, sitting in front of him as Aman held his hand.
"A little bit," Aman said in a low voice. He wanted to ask why they had to go to the hospital, but he hardly had the energy.
Rohit got some fruits from the kitchen and gave the plate to Jassi, who made Aman eat a few bites, only for Aman to rush to the bathroom, stumbling along the way to throw up whatever he had eaten.
Jassi ran after him while Virat and Rohit watched, worried at the sight. Virat let Jassi help Aman while he called the doctor to explain what had happened.
The doctor simply told him to bring Aman to the hospital.
"Aman, kiddo—we've got to take you to the hospital," Virat said gently, to which Aman nodded, trying to get up with Jassi's help.
Virat and Rohit sat in the front, while Jassi, along with Aman—whose head rested in Jassi's lap—sat in the back.
Virat's phone rang, but he couldn't pick it up, so he handed it to Rohit and told him to answer it and hold it for him.
"I'm driving right now," Virat replied, his tone abrupt, causing Rohit to frown.
"I'll call you in a bit. Wait—what did you say? You're in India? No, no, I'm not at home—"
There was a pause. "Give me 20 minutes; I'll call you," Virat said, gesturing for Rohit to hang up.
"He's still speaking, Virat," Rohit said, but Virat just insisted he hang up, which Rohit found very odd.
Soon, they reached the hospital, and Aman was taken for a check-up while the others waited outside.
Rohit sat beside Jassi, while Virat paced the corridor a bit farther away, out of their hearing range. Rohit noticed him speaking to someone over the phone.
"Cheeks, what is going on? Tell me now," Virat heard Rahul bhai's stern voice on the other end.
Virat narrated Aman's health condition and how they had brought him to the hospital. "I'm coming," Rahul bhai said firmly.
"Are you sure?" Virat asked, knowing how difficult it was for Rahul bhai. "Yes," he replied.
"Please come fast then—I need you," Virat said, a tear trickling down his cheek as he hung up the call.
Virat composed himself and walked back to Rohit and Jassi. Rohit was holding Jassi's hand, trying to calm him as Jassi grew increasingly tense.
After an hour of anxious waiting, the doctor came out. "It's a serious case of internal bleeding caused by a slow poison," he informed, leaving them all stunned.
"What are you saying?" Virat asked, his voice tense with worry.
"Did he drink anything recently, or did something happen in the last two weeks? This is a serious case, Virat—a police case even," the doctor informed. "For now, he is under observation. We've given him antidotes, but if they don't work through the night, we'll have to perform surgery," he explained gravely.
"Police case? That person is already arrested and has received severe punishment, so there's no need for further action. Whatever formalities are required, I will handle them. You just focus on giving him the best treatment—nothing should happen to him," Virat said in an authoritative, stern tone.
Rohit and Jassi sat in stunned silence, trying to process everything.
"Internal bleeding due to poison? Already arrested? Virat had worked on it? What was going on?" These thoughts raced through their minds as they exchanged uneasy glances.
The doctor nodded and walked away.
"Cheeku," a voice called from the corridor. The three of them turned toward the sound, surprised. Since there was only one special room on the floor, it was clear the voice was directed at them.
Virat turned around, and to everyone's shock, he rushed into the arms of the man who had spoken, leaving Rohit and Jassi utterly bewildered.

A/N:
Thank you so much for all the support! This story has now reached 50 chapters, and it truly means a lot to me.
I also want to address something. I know many of you eagerly wait for updates on this story, and I'm grateful for your love and patience.
However, I'm also working on other stories, which sadly receive much less response. Even my one-shots barely get any inline comments—just general comments asking for updates—and that honestly feels discouraging at times.
I've always mentioned that my stories are slow burn, so the pacing will stay that way. It's intentional and true to the way I want to tell these stories. I cannot drastically change the style or pace, and I hope you understand that.
I'm truly sorry if I'm disappointing anyone in any way, but I hope you'll continue supporting me. Thank you again for being part of this journey ❤️
