Prompts: Y/N is dating Prince Loki and happens to be his servant
Pronouns: She/HerThe palace was settling for the night: the servants finished their chores and the few guards up were barely conscious.
Y/N had removed her shoes to muffle her footsteps on the stone floors. As a servant of the crown she could go almost anywhere with little questioning, but she wasn't in a confrontational mood. She was thankful for her socks, however, because the tiles were near freezing this time of year. As a large, intricately carved door came up on her right, she glanced back where she came from before pushing it open.
There he sat, on the window nook, book in hand. Loki's raven hair glowing in the candlelight. The flame couldn't match the smile that lit up his face as Y/N sat opposite him in the alcove. Many evenings were spent like this: simply basking in each other's presence, away from the prying eyes of the kingdom's inhabitants.
The two shuffled over to the bed as the cold began seeping through the glass.
"You will not believe what I saw your brother do today."
"Oh, do tell my dear." He pulled her legs onto his lap, rubbing his thumbs over the usual aches in her knees.
"He and Fandral thought no one was around-"
He huffed, "And that always ends well."
Y/N shoved his shoulder, laughing at his expression. She sat on his lap, pinning him against the mountain of pillows to gain his undivided attention. "Do you wanna hear how Thor fell in the bog or not?"
"The bog? I'm sorry, my love, please go on. Tell me what a fool he is."
"He wasn't even humanoid anymore. He was just sludge."
Loki ran his hands up and down her sides, feeling her ribs heave with each laugh. "I know the oath is clumsy, but that clumsy?" He tugged, making her fall against his chest so he could cage her in.
"It started because Fandral thought it would be funny if he took a horse-"
Their chatter ceased as footsteps echoed in the corridors. The pounding only grew louder until there was a stampede outside the door. Y/N rarely bothered to lock the door behind her, because who else would interrupt the Prince's downtime other than his secret consort? The door burst open; the metal doorknob probably dented from the force. There was a whirlwind of noise and hands. Too many hands were gripping Y/N, and not one belonged to Loki. He was forced back onto the window seat, given half-arsed comfort, and forced to watch his love be dragged away.
Thor was awoken by the commotion. Even as he patted his brothers back, he was as oblivious to everything as always, not that he could ever hope to understand. Loki noticed mud still staining his blonde hair. He would have poked fun at him, but he wasn't in much of a jovial mood anymore.
Some novice palace guard had spotted the servant lurking outside the younger Prince's door and called in reinforcements. An unnecessary horde of them nearly broke his door, only for his father to come strolling in.
The concern seemed less for Loki's safety, but for a conspiracy against the crown. Typical of Odin not to consider his 'lesser' son's feelings. Which was clearly why he ordered his door to be locked at all times and at least two guards to keep watch. But that had never stopped him before. Y/N was leaving Asgard, and Loki would be damned if he didn't follow.
