Good news, bad news, the news that they had learned was plaguing Jace's mind. He didn't know really how to handle it, or how to accept it. On the one hand, this was a brilliant thing, a wonderous thing really, but on the other he was screwed. Alec was screwed, they were all screwed and it was a mix of his fault and his father's fault, and he wasn't really prepared to confront that himself. It didn't matter though, as Meliorn's hand graced his cheeks. Jace just sighed, relief pooling in his stomach. Did it really matter? Anything? If he was safe from his father, if Alec was safe from him too, what did it truly matter? Without Jace, his father's desires of the ultimate weapon solider were dashed, and while it was not the same, Jace did have Meliorn, which was more than he could have possibly hoped.
Alec, he knew, was not pleased. Having to start a new life was never easy, and he knew the other had siblings in a way that Jace had not. He loved Izzy and Max, not to say otherwise, but he was not the one who was raised with them. Alec was. He loved them like siblings, but in the end, they were not. So what was the point?
He knew Alec hated that he was around Meliorn, or that he continued to see Meliorn. He knew Alec also suspected Meliron wasn't the simple knight that he paraded around as, which if Alec had paid any attention during their Fae lessons, eh would have known he was correct, but lucky for everyone else, practically nobody paid any attention in lessons. Jace, well he was fascinating by them, so of course he knew. More than that, Meliorn had trusted him with this information, something Jace highly guarded because it was such a secret. Meliorn was not really the knight, but the Prince, and wasn't that something?
He wasn't really sure how that whole thing worked, what with the whole live forever deal, but he would assume at some point the current ruler would step down, and then Meliorn would take over. Something like that. it didn't matter. What did matter was Alec finally admitting their history to Magnus, who had seemed almost offended that it took Alec so long to actually figure out he liked the Warlock. Jace had just laughed, because what more was there to do.
While they did still have their annoying little Nephilim constantly watching them, since Alec and Jace were barred from actual missions for at least another two years, it didn't really matter much. They could barely even spar without people watching them with a wary gaze. Unlike with Meliorn and Magnus, where both had offered their homes. Of course, Alec went with Magnus, and Jace with Meliron, but when they did get together, well...
Jace was just glad he was safe, and Alec was safe. Though it was bittersweet was it not? They could not go on missions, couldn't slay demons, couldn't see their family again (though Jace was not really complaining bout that one).
