THAT night, nightmares plagued (Y/N) in a horrendous tandem, each one displaying gruesome scenes of blood and gore where Kyojuro died over and over again at the hands of Akaza. Tossing and turning in her sleep, heavy sweat drenching her skin from the terror that gripped her in its icy claws, it was finally seeing the light dim from Kyojuro's eyes that forced her awake with a scream.
She was alone in her room, the moon shining in from the glass window which casted the room in a soft white glow.
It did nothing to ease her fears.
Oh, God...
Raking her hand through her (H/C) hair as she sat up, pulling her knees to her chest, she took deep breaths in an effort to calm down. It wasn't easy, nor was it painless, as she was still intensely sore from the other day of training. Then again, no matter how hard she trained, what would it matter if she couldn't even be there to stop the death of someone she cared about? Squeezing her eyes shut, she tried to tell herself that maybe the outcome would be different, that maybe Kyojuro would come back to her as he had promised, but she knew it wasn't so simple.
A soft knock on the door then drew her from her spiraling thoughts.
She stared at the door.
Oh, no... I woke someone up.
Wincing at the fact, knowing she would have to put a smile on her face and lie to whoever it was that she was okay, she then reluctantly climbed out of bed and opened the door.

"Oh," (Y/N) blinked as she stared up at Giyu.
She knew that he had been staying at the Butterfly Estate for the evening, but it wasn't like she expected him to be the one at the door—insomnia, or not. What was more, she continued to be caught off guard by how he looked during the evening: loose white kimono, his hair down, his eyes lidded as he stared down at her. Slowly, she looked away in shame, having not wanted him to see this side of her—this messy, jumbled side of her she hated.
"You're not okay," Giyu uttered softly, stating what he knew rather than asking it, almost as if he knew she would try to lie to him.
