Maxine's P.O.V.
We were outside as Professor McGonagall spoke about the field trip to the Village.
"No permission form signed, no visiting the village. That's the rule, Potters."
"Actually I have mine signed Professor," I say as Harry looks at me confused. Of course, I faked the signature. "How did you get it signed Maxine? We both didn't get it signed." Harry says as I show my form to Professor McGonagall. "Forged Signature isn't allowed, Miss Potter."
"You snitch...I swear I didn't forge it. I would never.." I say to Harry before begging Professor McGonagall. She ran a thumb over the signature smearing it. I had barely written the signature and it was still fresh and rather messy making it less believable as she handed me the paper back shaking her head in disapproval.
"But Professor I thought if you signed it, then we could go," Harry says. "I can't. Only a parent or a guardian can sign. Since I am neither it would be inappropriate. I'm sorry, Potters. That's my final word." She says as she pats both of our shoulders.
"Forget about it, guys. We'll see you later." Harry tells Hermione and Ron as I waved them goodbye before chasing Harry.
"You should've told me that you were going to forge the signature," Harry says with a voice of disappointment mostly of not being able to go. "I was but I thought about it last minute, besides I couldn't find you."
I walked with Harry since I didn't have much to do other than be with him. We ended up bumping into Professor Lupin on the bridge as we stopped.
Harry: "Professor, can I ask you something?"
Lupin: "You want to know why I stopped you facing that boggart yes? I would have thought it'd be obvious. I assumed it would take the shape of lord Voldemort. Although I'm quite surprised to see what Maxine had gotten."
Maxine: "Do we even know what he looks like?" I said more to myself ignoring his comment about what the boggart had turned for me.
Harry: "I did think of Voldemort...at first. But the. I remembered that night on the train...and the dementor."Lupin: "Well, I'm very impressed. That suggests that what you fear the most is fear itself. This is very wise." Is it very wise I thought to myself to fear, fear itself well I suppose it would be better.
Harry: "Before I fainted... I heard something. A Women...screaming."
Lupin: "Well dementors force us to relive our very worst memories. Our pain becomes their power."
Harry: "I think it was our mother...the night she was murdered." Harry turns to look at him before facing forward.
Lupin: "you know, the very first time I saw you, Harry, I recognized you immediately. Not by your scar; by your eyes. They're your mother Lily's. Yes, oh yes. I knew her." Once again not one thing about me looking similar to Lily or James Potter. Not a single comment. I frown as my suspicions only grow larger and larger with each passing day. Deep down I knew and yet I needed confirmation. And Lupin, oh, Lupin knew something I didn't. Something I didn't know but I knew, if he was close to them then he knew yet his lips were sealed. Refusing to give me a single clue. He turns facing away from us as I stare at his back wishing to see his expression.
Lupin: "Your mother was there for me at a time when no one else was. Not only was she a singularly gifted witch, but she was also an uncommonly kind woman. She had a way of seeing the beauty in others. Even, and perhaps most especially, when that person could not see it in themselves. Well, your father, James, on the other hand, he, uh..." He spoke reminiscing perhaps about the past and yet I couldn't help but smile hearing about Lily.
"He had a certain, shall we say, talent for trouble. A talent, rumor had it... he passed on to both of you." He says only looking at me briefly before looking at Harry. I didn't like how difficult it was to tell whether it was a lie or not.
