Starfania jolted awake with a sharp gasp. Her heart hammered wildly as the remnants of the dreams clung to her—midnight-blue eyes flashing in her mind like lightning across a storm-dark sky. Dragon's eyes. Or rather...eyes that felt like them. Eyes she had not yet seen, but somehow knew. She sat upright, one hand pressed to her chest, the other gripping the sheets. The room around her slowly sharpened into focus—her walls, her desk, the faint moonlight fading with dawn. But the echo of that vision refused to leave. Her breaths came unevenly as she tried to steady herself. A dragon. The comet. The mysterious woman's smirk.

" Choose," the voice still whispered at the edge of her mind. The dreams were beginning to take their toll.

The dreams had begun to blur the line between reality and vision. Fragments of riddles. Flashes of dragon cries. Glimpses of the mysterious woman's silhouette. As the full moon approached, its pull grew stronger—an invisible thread tightening around her heart. She felt its energy in her bones, a quiet hum beneath her skin, warning her that something significant—inevitable—was coming. No matter where she went or who she was with, the visions followed. She inhaled sharply, grounding herself. Whatever the full moon brings...I have to face it. The world had barely brightened when Ren's soft voice reached her through the haze.

" Starfania, dear, it's time to wake up, " she called, gently pulling her from the last wisps of sleep

" Starfania, dear, it's time to wake up, " she called, gently pulling her from the last wisps of sleep. " Aeron is waiting for you downstairs, and you still need to get ready for school."

Life moved too fast for her exhausted mind. She dressed quickly, brushed her hair, and made her way downstairs—still rubbing her chest as faint echoes of the dream lingered. The aroma hit her before she reached the kitchen: warm pancakes, butter melting, and freshly brewed coffee. Her stomach growled. Aeron sat at the table, a book open but clearly abandoned. He looked up the moment she entered.

" Good morning, sleepyhead! " He grinned. " I was starting to think you'd sleep through breakfast."

" Not a chance, " she said, grabbing a plate. " I wouldn't miss Miss Ren's famous pancakes."

The morning sun filtered through the window, bathing the kitchen in a warm, amber glow. As they ate, conversation flowed easily between them—light teasing and casual chatter, a moment of normalcy she hadn't realized she needed.

Then Ren stepped into the room with a dramatic sigh, crossing her arms.

" Well," she said with playful mischief dripping from her tone, " have you both concluded your chattering, little lovebirds? School is waiting—impatiently, might I add."

Both Aeron and Starfania froze. Then—

" WE ARE NOT TOGETHER!" They blurted at once, face instantly flushing. Ren rolled her eyes so hard it was almost theatrical.

" Oh, please," she said

" Oh, please," she said. " I know a crush when I see one."

Aeron nearly choked on his orange juice as he waved his hands frantically. " We're just friends! I swear!"

Starfania nodded rapidly, cheeks burning. " Right! Just friends! Nothing more!"

Ren leaned forward with the confidence of someone who'd caught them red-handed. " Friends, huh? Then why do you both look like you've just seen a ghost?"

Aeron looked away, scratching the back of his neck.

" It's just...early," he muttered. " We're tired."

Starfania jumped in immediately. " Yeah! Homework was brutal last night!"

Ren laughed—soft, warm, infuriating. " Sure. Keep telling yourselves that."

She smirked, leaning against the wall, arms crossed. " I see the way you look at each other."

Starfania's eyes darted to the clock.

" Oh—we're going to be late!" She blurted, grabbing her bag. Aeron grabbed his as well, still red-faced.

Together, they hurried out the door into the warm volcanic breeze, the ground rumbling softly beneath their feet as VulcanFire stirred awake. Today would be ordinary. Today would be normal. At least...that's what they hoped. Because the full moon was coming. And with it, destiny.
