The celebration carried on around them like a living heartbeat of Primara itself. Lanterns of gold and sapphire swayed gently overhead, casting warm light across the festival grounds while music echoed through the streets. Children laughed as young dragons swooped low through the air, their scales glittering beneath the afternoon sky. Tables overflowed with food and drinks, and for the first time in what felt like forever, people were smiling without fear. Primara had chosen to celebrate not just a victory, but survival. And at the center of it all stood the unlikely heroes who had helped save Avalon.

Starfania, Aeron, Violet, Atlas, and Drogo moved through the crowd together, receiving smiles, bows, and grateful words from nearly everyone they passed. Atlas walked proudly beside Starfania, his white scales gleaming beneath the lantern glow, while Drogo accepted endless head pats from children who looked at him like a legend brought to life. Even Violet seemed lighter tonight. At unique moments throughout the evening, they found themselves pulled into conversations with the people who had become part of their journey.
Lyam spoke proudly with his people, though now and then his eyes drifted toward Starfania with quiet respect. General Salvatore Hart congratulated them formally. Maximilian eagerly rambled about the silver rain samples they had collected after the eclipse, while Elira excitedly explained how the dragon under quarantine was already recovering far faster than expected. And then there was Katherine. The blacksmith stood near one of the forge-lit tents, arms crossed proudly while watching Roman begrudgingly help organize supplies nearby. The moment she spotted the group approaching, her face brightened.
" Well, look who survived saving Avalon," Katherine teased warmly.
" Barely," Aeron replied dramatically, earning a laugh from Violet. Katherine shook her head before motioning toward the woman beside her.
" Starfania, Aeron, Violet—I want you all to properly meet someone. This is Savanna Greyscale."
Savanna offered them a gentle smile, much softer than the stern expression she had worn back at Emberforge Armory.
" It's good to see you all again," she said warmly. Roman, meanwhile, awkwardly stood nearby with his arms crossed, clearly unsure what to do with himself now that he wasn't arguing with someone. Katherine smirked immediately. " And yes, before anyone asks, this grumpy little menace is still Roman."
" I'm standing right here," Roman muttered. That only made Violet giggled. Savanna sighed, though there was affection behind it.
" Roman's father passed away when he was very young," she explained quietly. " Ever since then...it's mostly just been the two of us. He's a good kid, truly. He just struggles with...feeling powerless sometimes."
Roman looked away immediately, clearly embarrassed by the conversation. " Mom—"
" Which usually turns into attitude," Katherine added bluntly.
" KATHERINE."
Starfania couldn't help laughing softly. For a moment, she saw something different in Roman—not the rude boy from the forge, but someone trying to protect himself the only way he knew how. Eventually the conversation drifted into lighter topics, and before long Roman reluctantly began helping Violet feed small dragon hatchlings nearby while pretending he absolutely did not enjoy it. Which fooled no one.
As the night deepened, the celebration only grew louder. But eventually, Starfania slipped away from the crowd for a moment of quiet. The sounds of music and laughter became distant behind her as she wandered toward the edge of Primara's overlook, where the glowing lantern gave way to moonlight and silence. Aeron found her there not long after. Of course he did. He leaned against the wooden railing beside her, both of them watching the distant mountains in comfortable silence. For a while, neither spoke. Then, finally—after a long pause, he finally asked, his voice low and uncertain, " How do you feel about all of this? About going against your father's kingdom?"

The question pierced deeper than she expected. Starfania hesitated.
" It's hard," she admitted softly. " He's my father. No matter how far apart we've grown, he's still a part of me. I always wanted his approval...to make him proud. But now."
She reached into her pocket and pulled out Cosmry in its pen form. The sapphire jewel shimmered softly in the moonlight. With a quiet click, the weapon expanded back into its sword form. The blade gleamed silver-blue as she gently brushed her fingers across the jewel, her midnight eyes reflecting on its surface.
" Now I see the destruction he's willing to unleash," she whispered. " How he's twisted his people's loyalty to something dangerous. I can't stand by and watch that happen...no matter who he is."
Aeron nodded slowly, his forest-green eyes studying her carefully.
" You're brave for saying that," he admitted. " Honestly...I've been wondering the same thing about myself."
Starfania blinked. " You?"
Aeron let out a quiet laugh, though there was sadness behind it. " VulcanFire was my home too, Star. Even if my father was just a traveling merchant...even if things got worse after my mom died and my stepmother came into our lives...it was still my home."
His gaze drifted toward the distant horizon. " Part of me hates what we're doing. Fighting our own people. But..."
He looked back at her then. And this time his expression softened completely. " I would do it again. Every single time. If it means helping the one person who made VulcanFire feel bearable."
Starfania felt her breath caught slightly. Aeron smiled faintly. " You were always there for me. For Violet too. Honestly...I'm glad you brought us with you. I'm glad I got to go on this adventure with you."
Warmth spread through her chest so suddenly it almost hurt. She smiled before lightly nudging his shoulder. " I couldn't do this without you, you know."
