Step into a mesmerizing world where dragons soar high into the vast skies and legends become reality. " Dragon Savior: A New Beginning " is a captivating fantasy novel that follows the adventure of Starfania, a young girl destined to find her true p...
Left alone with Principal Dexter, Starfania hesitated. The silence pressed in around her, thick and uncomfortable, as though the walls themselves were listening. Her thoughts churned—questions stacking atop one another—but Dexter's steady gaze anchored her in place. With a careful breath, she finally spoke of uncertainty threading through her determination.
" Um...Principal Dexter," Starfania began softly, " could you explain why Becka got detention...but I didn't?"
Dexter leaned back in his chair, the faint creak of leather filling the room. His expression was weary, but measured—like a man who had weighed this decision long before she ever asked.
" I showed you mercy," he said plainly. " Because you demonstrated remorse. You took responsibility for your actions. "
His eyes sharpened slightly.
"Becka did not. She denied her role, dismissed the harm she caused, and believed indignation would shield her from consequence. That alone told me enough."
Starfania frowned, absorbing his words.
" But...it still feels wrong," she admitted. " Like she paid the price while I walked away."
Dexter regarded her thoughtfully.
" Life has a habit of challenging our sense of justice," he replied. " Sometimes consequences aren't about balance—they're about lessons. You've been given the chance to reflect. What you do with that matters far more than punishment."
Starfania nodded slowly, gratitude mingling with guilt. For a moment, she thought that was the end of it. But Dexter didn't look away. Instead, his gaze sharpened—quiet, perceptive.
" There is one thing," he said, " you omitted."
Her stomach tightened. " You conveniently skipped the moment Becka labeled you a dragon lover."
Heat rushed to Starfania's cheeks. She looked down, embarrassed. She had hoped—foolishly—that no one had taken that seriously. Becka's laughter, the way others had watched...it still lingered uncomfortably in her chest.
" I—it was just a joke," she stammered. " It didn't mean anything."
Even she didn't believe it. Dexter's mouth twitched faintly.
" Just a joke?" he echoed. " Then why do you look like you've seen a ghost?"
Starfania inhaled deeply.
" Alright," she said at last, lifting her chin. " Maybe I do like dragons. So what? They're incredible. Powerful. Wise."
His voice steadied as confidence bloomed unexpectedly. " They represent strength, loyalty, and balance. How is that any different from admiring heroes, or legends, or anything else people cling to?"
Dexter crossed his arms, intrigue glinting in his eyes.
" So," he said slowly, " you're proud of it."
" I am," Starfania replied, meeting his gaze without flinching. " If others think it's strange, that's their problem."
Something shifted in the room. Dexter studied her—not as a principal now, but as someone measuring something far older, far deeper. She turned to leave.
" Starfania," Dexter called after her. She paused.
" I think it's wonderful," he said quietly, " that you still carry VulcanFire's original belief—when we cherished dragons. Before the kingdom hardened into what it is now."
His gaze softened. " Back when your mother—Queen Lyria—ruled. When this was a nation of balance, not fear."
Starfania's breath caught.
" She would be proud of you," Dexter added gently. " More than you know."
Starfania didn't trust herself to speak. Instead, she turned back and offered him a small, grateful smile—one that carried more relief than she realized she'd been holding. And for the first time since the full moon began its pull...she felt seen.
