She could feel the skin around her nails sting as crescent-shaped imprints dug deep into her palms. The truth stung. Every friend who drifted away. She is feared by everyone. Every empty seat at lunch. All reminders she carried alone. Disorientation washed over her like a tidal wave. Her breath hitched, uneven. Becka's voice cut through her unraveling thoughts, each word sharper than the last.

" And let's not forget," Becka continued, venom dripping from every syllable, " the glorious impact your mother's death had on the kingdom."

Daniel stiffened. Aeron froze mid-breath. Becka leaned closer, smiling like she enjoyed the cruelty.

" The brave protector," she said mockingly, " who threw herself into danger for her precious daughter...only to doom this kingdom to a living Hell because of it."

The words slammed into Starfania like a physical blow. Her vision glitched–colors distorting, the hallway warping at the edges. She blinked hard, but the world continued to fracture around her like a cracked mirror. Her fists trembled. Her pulse thundered painfully in her ears. A low heat built in her chest like something volcanic pushing upward. Becka smirked, mistaking Starfania's silence for weakness.

" Face it," she whispered, leaning in, " your mother died because of you."

Starfania's breath stopped.

" She threw herself into danger to save a child who wasn't even worth it. And now all you do is chase dragons—just like her. Pathetic."

A sharp inhale escaped Starfania. Aeron's eyes widened, horror creeping across his face. Daniel took a step forward—blocked immediately by a Scarlet Rage member. The floor seemed to tilt beneath Starfania's feet. You weren't worth it. The phrase echoed like a curse. Her throat tightened. Her chest was constricted. For a flash, she was small again—crying, helpless, reaching out for a mother who never came back. Her breath shook. Then something deep inside her snapped. The grief bled into fury—pure, unfiltered, terrifying fury.

Starfania's expression twisted, the rage distorting her features. For a heartbeat, she looked less human—more like a creature pulled from ancient legends, something primal and born from fire and pain. Her eyes darkened, an eerie heat flickering within them. She jabbed a finger into Starfania's chest, pinning her against the locker. Aeron and Daniel tried to push through the blockade of bodies, but Scarlet Rage shoved them back. Becka leaned in so close Starfania could feel her breath.

" And the cherry on top?" she whispered, cruel satisfaction dripping from her tone. " You're just the falling ashes after a forest fire—your only purpose is to make everything look dead and depressing."

The words detonated inside Starfania. Like a spark hitting a powder keg. A sound escaped her throat—low, trembling, inhuman. Her vision tinted red. The fire inside her surged violently—too big—too hot, too wild, too dangerous for her to contain. Becka didn't realize she'd just stepped into the maw of something ancient and furious.
