As they strolled toward Professor Shadow's class, the morning rhythm suddenly faltered. Becka appeared out of nowhere and wrapped Daniel in an overly dramatic hug, clinging to him as though she were performing for an audience.

Daniel stiffened instantly—his smile tight, his posture uncomfortable. Aeron and Starfania exchanged startled glances. So they both did the universal " please save me" cough. But instead of releasing Daniel, Becka finally noticed them. Her eyes slide over Aeron before landing on Starfania with pure disdain.

" You two are such losers," Becka said with an exaggerated eye roll. Daniel shifted awkwardly, giving them a helpless look. Starfania lifted a brow, unfazed. Aeron's jaw tightened, but he kept his voice even.

" Maybe we should just get to class," Aeron suggested, motioning for Daniel to slip away. But Becka stepped toward them, blocking their path.

" Why?" she said with a mocking tilt of her head. " Scared I might be?"

Starfania crossed her arms again. " Just trying to give Daniel some space."

The hallway grew heavier, students passing but side-eyeing the tension. Daniel coughed again—definitely to break the silence this time. Becka smirked. " Space? Or are you just jealous?"

Aeron took a small step forward; ready to fire back—but Starfania's hand shot out, catching him by the wrist. Her father's voice echoed inside her mind: " Choose your battles wisely. Most are not worth drawing your sword for."

Aeron looked confused, but her grip remained steady

Aeron looked confused, but her grip remained steady.

" Trust me," she whispered. " If we react, she wins. And it'll only get worse."

Aeron swallowed hard, then reluctantly nodded. That was when Starfania turned to walk away—until Becka's voice sliced through the noise.

" You know," she said sweetly, " I always wondered why people avoid you."

Starfania froze.

" I thought it was because you're obsessed with dragons," Becka continued casually. " Or because you're Cesar's heir. But really? Everyone you care about just...leaves you. "

A cold shock ran down Starfania's spine. Slowly, she turned back. " What did you just say?"

Becka shrugged, a smirk curling with satisfaction. " It's just the truth."

Old memories crashed in—Bone, her mother, her brother, the friends who she was or who they feared she'd become.

" You don't know anything about me," Starfania said, her voice sharp as steel.

" Oh, I think I do," Becka replied, stepping closer, lowering her voice to a venomous whisper.

" Your whole life revolves around your father's approval...but have you even noticed?" She leaned in, eyes glinting cruelly. " He doesn't care about you. Not anymore."
