Disclaimer: THIS IS A PIECE OF FAN-FICTION, DERIVED FROM THE ORIGINAL WORKS OF HARRY POTTER SERIES BY J.K. ROWLING.

Teddy

The baby the captors held had striking turquoise hair and wobbly lips. Any heart would shred in pain at the way it reached us with whines and begging with little sobs. The Edward Lupin who hung in that man's arms almost made me forget my reality and believe that baby's existence over myself.

Subconsciously, I turned to get Aunt Ginny's reaction and as expected, Uncle Harry was holding her back. The same amount of pain was reflected in her helplessness. It tugged at something inside. I felt good and in pain the same. What an ugly torture!

"Let him go!" She called out.

"Seriously." James sighed, "That's your play?"

"Old tricks will do." Carlisle sneered.

"Do you think this would work?" I asked and Aunt Ginny turned to me, "It changes nothing."

"Ed." James spoke with a pause.

"Don't pay mind to him, James."

"What the hell?" This was Aunt Ginny.

"He's not real." I bargained and James was hesitant. It surprised me that he was. Cold as he seemed seconds ago, his demeanor had flinched in this touching moment. Love could be seen as a weakness in this moment. An excellent example of the saying itself.

No one said a thing.

I had to prove myself. My reality was being questioned and only could be standing by the end.

"Are you sure?" Carlisle challenged, "How do you know I didn't bring the boy as a hostage with me?"

"You couldn't have." I smirked, "I'm fully aware that I'm real, so how could he?" Though I was sure of this detail, I couldn't rule out the many possibilities that could lead to this boy being real. Such as the game of time travel. But I was not about to voice out these thoughts. It would put James off his stand and rile Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny up.

"I was right." Aunt Ginny spoke, "You're Teddy."

"Sorry." I gulped, my ears feeling hot as I finally managed to raise my head and match her expression. She was the most freaked out than I'd ever seen her. Fearful and on edge. Was it the baby that had done this to her?

"How can you be sure that he isn't real either?" Uncle Harry just had to voice my concerns.

"I-I am." I lied.

"Teddy-"

"Sir!" I didn't want to yell but my voice took a tone, "I am." I spoke lower.

"Your confidence feeds us nothing." Uncle Harry was ice stern, "For you, he is nothing, for us that is our boy."

These words could be touching and warm but for the moment they were a dagger to my heart.

"I am real." I spoke out again, "Kill the boy for all I care."

"Teddy!" James hissed.

"You know what's the truth James." I begged his unwavering logical thinking that was the only bullet we had with us. Every person was overtaken by emotions, except James. He wasn't flinching. He wasn't crying. He was eager. To go home. I needed his rationality.

His eyes had silence and they they turned back to Carlisle. No words were exchanged but Carlisle took an answer still.

"Okay." Carlisle spoke and the baby suddenly went limp in the man's arms.
