~Joe's P.O.V~
"Oh shit. We're gonna lose," I spoke as Courtney rested in the grass as I held her legs.
Most of the other groups are ahead of us, damn near the end. All except for DeVanté's other brother and Jazmine. I don't remember that niggas name. He seems cool though and shares some of the same features as DeVanté and Dalvin.
"Shit, I'm tired," Courtney huffed and I laughed.
"Hey, take your time. At least we won't be complete losers. This is a game at the end of the day." I spoke to her as she continued to catch her breath.
Courtney is a sexy woman and a great conversationalist. However, it seems like that J.Cole nigga is lingering. I don't know whether or not they have lingering beef or dealt with each other. All I know is that That J.Cole nigga seems a big bitter and don't like the fact that I'm around. It's not like I've pulled anything, so why the fuck he seems so jealous? It's weird, this is my first time meeting most of everyone here and this nigga is already holding some type of animosity towards me. So far, I'm feeling Courtney and I'm confident that by the end of the day, I'll have her number. I'd like to get to know her even further. This'll probably be the only time I'd get to do that, so now or never.
DeVanté came crawling past me with Tia holding his legs. They're the first ones I noticed because they were right next to me at the starting line in the beginning. Moments later, I saw Dalvin crawling in a rush, past me. He's crawling so fast that he ended up passing DeVanté and Tia. We're still in the first round and not even in the middle of the end zone.
"I'm going back to the gym. When I tell you I'm gon' snap the hell back, I'm gon' snap all the way back," Courtney halfway joked.
"You look good now, so when you snap back the way you say, you'll look even better," I closed my eyes and dropped my head. That sounded like a backhanded compliment. "I'm sorry."
Courtney turned around to face me. "I know what you meant," she chuckled.
"Good," I smiled. "Listen, do you want to just quit and talk?"
"Usually I'm not a quitter, but today that's what it's looking like. I'm full as hell and I'm not in the mood for these types of activities." I let her go, she stood up, dusting herself off.
"Y'all are disqualified," Redd yelled through his bullhorn. "Joe and Courtney are disqualified!" He announced to everyone else.
We walked away to the large pavilion where the fan is blowing.
"I am not equipped for this type of mess," Courtney huffed as she plopped down in her seat, and then slumped.
I chuckled at her, "that tired, huh?" I stated the obvious because I don't exactly know where to start.
"Hell, yeah," she chuckled, grabbing the now-warm bottle of water that she left earlier. "It's hot as hell out here. It doesn't make any sense that they want to do these types of activities in this hellish weather."
"They probably weren't expecting it to be this hot today. It's been pretty nice for the past few days. I mean, other than the random rain, which won't happen today," I explained.
