"Hey guys, I think we made it." Auntie CJ said as everyone slowly turned around to look forward. We watched as we drove slowly up to a giant wall that looked like it was 60 feet tall. We were met by a guy covered in complete camouflage. He tapped on the window as Auntie CJ smiled slightly at him as she rolled down the window.
"Please ma'am get out of the car. Everyone out of the car." The man said as he motioned us in the back. We all got out of the car unaware of what is going on right now. "This is protocol do not get scared. We will not hurt you." The guy said as I looked up on top of the wall where there were men pacing with guns. "They won't hurt you either. They are just there to keep walkers from getting in." The man said as he made me raise my arms examining with some sort of device. "Clear." He said as he moved on to the next person.
"What kind of device is that?" Owen asked as the man examined him.
"This is a device to see if you have a starting of any kind of virus." The man said as he took of his mask revealing a handsome man who looked around Mr. Harrison's age. "I'm Marcus Jenson. I'm one of the guards here at what we like to call Safe Haven. If you hop in your car and follow me I will bring you to the head leader I guess you can call him." Marcus said as a few of us hopped in the car as I followed on foot with him. The giant wall opened up a gate that let us go in. We walked in as people stared at us. I looked around at everyone we passed unsure on what to think. I felt someone grab my hand as I turned to look at who it was. It was Emily who grabbed my hand. I squeezed it as we walked side by side. The man brought us to a building inside where he told us to park the car.
"Please follow me." Another guy said as he smiled too at us as we walked with him. "I'm surprised you survived this long. But at least you made it. The more the merrier." The guy said as he knocked on a door. "Sir, we have some new guests that came from outside the wall." The guy said as we heard a voice on the other side. "Go in." The guy said smiling as the door was fully open revealing an elderly man who smiled politely at us.
"Welcome to the Safe Haven as most people like to call it. I'm George Lance. I'm what most people like to call the leader. Either way you must be exhausted. We will have a house for you to live in, in just a few moments." He said snapping his fingers as a woman appeared out of no where clicking something in her computer. She stayed quiet but smiled sweetly.
"Can you tell us what this place is?" Emily asked as everyone looked around. The guy motioned towards the window for us to come over.
"Look out there. This is a place where people are safe. They rely on each other. They are safe here. They have weapons, food, water and a place to stay. We try to make sure all families stay in one place so they do not have to be apart." The man said as we all looked at how happy people were. Children were playing and it was an awesome sight. The lady began to print something off as she walked over to the man and handed him paper. "Alright so we don't have many rules here except be polite to everyone and help each other out. You may go beyond the wall if you choose, we can not and will not stop you. If you decide to come back after your done exploring you will be examined once again like you were when you first arrived. If they find even a slight cold virus see that reddish building that says 'Hospital' on it? That is where all the infected stay until their viruses go away." The man said as he read through the papers the lady gave him.

"Even if we have the common cold?" Owen asked to clarify. The man smiled and nodded his head.
"Yes. We don't want any risks of it getting any worse. Now follow me and I will show you where you will all be living." The man said as he walked towards the doors followed by us.
"So your men won't hurt us?" Nick asked as he sounded a little shaky. The man laughed a bit.
"No they will not. They are here to protect. Not to harm." He said as we all followed him down some stairs that led outside. We followed him until we reached two houses that were small but big enough for us. "These are some of the newer houses that were built recently. You may decide who lives where. But I would like to know your names since you know mine." He said smiling at us. I looked at him as I looked around. There weren't many houses where this house was.
"I'm Brooklyn Mathews. This is my sister Emily Mathews." I said as I smiled holding out my hand for him to shake which he did smiling. He then shook Emily's hand too.
"I'm Robert Harrison. Her boyfriend." He said pointing to me as he shook the mans hand.
"I'm Carmen Jones. Everyone calls me Auntie CJ. These are my sons Austin and Nick Jones." She said as the boys smiled shaking his hand as he smiled back at them.
"I'm Alayna Kelly. I'm her best friend." Alayna said smiling as she motioned to me shaking his hand as well. Owen moved forward.
"I'm Owen Edwards. Also her best friend. I would also like to know more about the examination thing the guy has when we first got here." Owen said shaking the mans hand.
"Ahh yes the examination monitor. If you want later on once you get settled in you can come to my building and we can talk." The man said as they shook hands smiling. Jack cleared his throat moving forward.
"I'm Jack Hearty. Again her best friend." Jack said smiling as his face went red as soon as their hands touched as the man shook it gently.
"Now who's this little guy and the vicious looking dog?" The man said kneeling down to Shawn's level speaking in a childish voice as he pet King's head. Shawn gripped onto my pant leg hiding slightly behind me.
"The dogs name is King. He never goes anywhere without him. Tell him your name sweetie." I said as I placed my hand on Shawn's head motioning him it was okay. Shawn slowly came out from behind me.
"I'm Shawn." He said quietly and shy. The man smiled holding on to Shawn.
"Well it's nice to meet you little guy." The man said as he poked Shawn in the nose making him smile. The mans told up to look at me. "It was very nice to meet you all. If you have any questions you know where to find me. Or if you can't find me you can always ask one of the guards." The man said as he smiled widely at us. "You seem like an awesome bunch of people. We could use some more men on the defence team if you would like to join." The man said as he moved through our group so we were closer to the house.
"Thank you so much for welcoming us with warm hearts." Auntie CJ said as we smiled at him. The man laughed a bit as he smiled. He was looking at me sort of like he was trying to figure out what I was thinking.
"Enjoy your lives here. I hope you feel safe." He said as everyone smiled waving as we went separate ways walking into the house. "Brooklyn?" He called out as I stopped. Mr. Harrison looked at me as I motioned him to continue on.
"Yes sir?" I said as I walked to stand right in front of him. He examined me up and down. Then he looked at the one guard with him as if they were talking telepathically.
"I'm guessing a track and field team?" He said which sounded more like a question. I nodded my head raising my eyebrow at him.
"Yeah how did you know?" I asked as he just circled me.
"You just have to body structure of someone who runs a lot. I'm also guessing you have anger in your system." He said as he lifted my hands to admire my bruised knuckles. I nodded my head.
"Yeah I guess so. Why?" I asked trying not to be rude. He released my hand.
"Come see me along with your friend the one who wants to know more about the examination monitor. Owen I believe. I have something I think you would enjoy doing while you are here. Actually you should bring them all along with you. So I can give them a tour of the place, maybe they will find something they want to do to keep themselves busy." The man said as he looked me dead in the eyes. I nodded my head still a bit in shock at how wonderful this place was.
"Thanks. I will let them know that." I said as I began to walk inside as I watched him walk away. The house was completely beautiful. We decided that Mr. Harrison, Shawn, King, Emily, Nick and I would stay in one house while Alayna, Austin, Auntie CJ, Jack and Owen stayed in the other. Even if we wanted to we could switch it around.
"This is the best house ever! Yeah it's small but it's amazing!" Alayna said as her and Austin explored the house. I smiled at them as I walked through out the house. Everyone began to chatter.
"We have a shower!" Emily said as she came running out of the bathroom completely ecstatic. I couldn't wait to get into that shower. We all had showers (not together) but we all got cleaned up and changed into some of the clothes that they had left for us. We felt completely refreshed.
"We should go see that guy George to take a tour." Owen said as everyone knew the reason why he wanted to go. We all smiled as we were feeling much better. I was honestly really excited for the tour. Can't wait to explore.
