20 comments for next part :)The entire camp was gathered in the Arena, all wearing black. In the middle of the place was a stone table, where a shroud was lying on.
Beckendorf's shroud was made out of metal links, like chain mail. The metal melted in the fire and turned to golden smoke, which rose into the sky. The campfire flames always reflected the campers' moods, and today they burned black.
Thea was standing in the front, her mother standing on her left side. Both were wearing a black, long dress.
A few feet to their right were Annabeth, Percy, Silena, Clarisse and Chiron. Everyone else stood behind them, watching as Beckendorf's siblings burned the shroud.
She heard his voice inside her mind and the smell of a donut reached her nose. She looked over to the fire and saw Beckendorf smiling at her and walking away.
He made an offering to her.Chiron walked towards them in his centaur form and leaned over Rhea's ear, saying something in secret. Rhea nodded and leaned over to Thea.
"My dear" she called her gently "The funeral is about to end, would you like to say something? Say your goodbye?"
The word echoed through her mind.
"Bye, sis" he kissed her cheek and slowly walked away backwards "Love you!"
"Love you, stay safe!" She screamed after him with a smile, as he entered the stables.
She didn't say goodbye.
Her lips started twitching, as her throat begin to burn and her eyes to water. She stared at Beckendorf's shroud, resting over the stone table. No body. No remains.
"It's okay, my dear, don't worry" Rhea rubbed her arm and turned to Chiron, shaking her head.
Chiron nodded and glanced at Thea with pity, before turning around.
Everyone started to leave, whispering to one another. Nico walked over to Thea. He stood at her side as he stared at the smoke, glancing now and then to her.
"I talked to his ghost" he told her "He's in Elysium, he seemed okay with death"
He stayed silent for a moment, waiting for her to say something, ask him something, but she didn't.
"He asked me to tell you something" he continued "He said that you better not try to blame yourself, he said you needed to move on. And... he wished you a happy life"
"Shut up. You relax and enjoy your last hours at camp" he glanced at her with pleading face "Please"
A tear fell down her face, as she pursed her lips. She closed her eyes, thousands of memories and images of Beckendorf going through her mind.
Percy and Annabeth walked toward her and stood to her right. Nico leaned over Thea and kissed her cheek, then nodded to the pair and walked away.
"Hey, Liz" Percy said softly, giving her a small smile "How are you doing?"
Annabeth elbowed him, giving him a glare, but Thea didn't notice. Her eyes never left the golden smoke.
"I will leave you alone" Rhea whispered, giving the pair a smile, before walking away.
"I'm so sorry, Liz" Annabeth whispered, grabbing her hand "He's in Elysium now. He will rest now"
"Liz" Percy said, clearing his throat "I'm so sorry. It should've been me. He was supposed to go to collage in fall"
