"He'll appear... eventually" Thea reassured Chiron with a smile.

"I hope so" Chiron sighed deeply.

They were in the living room of the Big House, chatting over breakfast. Chiron was expressing to Thea how worried he was about Percy.

"I visited Sally" she told him.

"You shouldn't have done that, Liz" Chiron shook his head, a cup of coffee in his hand "If he finds out, he'll get angry"

"He gets angry too easily" she rolled her eyes annoyed and dismissed him "He's like a living bomb, always a match away from exploding"

"Unfortunately, that is a very good metaphor" he chuckled.

They heard a knock on the door and turned to see Annabeth standing there, hesitating to come in.

"My dear, come on in" Chiron waved her in with a bright smile "What brings you here?"

Annabeth stepped in but didn't sat down, instead she stood behind the couch with a troubled look.

"Sorry to interrupt" she apologized and turned to Thea "Liz, I need to talk to you"

"Oh, um..." Thea said looking between Annabeth and Chiron.

"It's okay" Chiron said, moving his wheelchair towards the door "I have things to do anyway"

"Are you sure?" Thea frowned at him.

"Talk to Annabeth" he told her "I'm sure it's important"

Chiron left the Big House, leaving the girls alone. Thea turned to Annabeth, who sat down next to her on the couch.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" She asked her.

"Liz, I'm worried about Percy" her voice was weak and her eyes were watery.

"He will appear, you'll see" Thea grabbed her hand as support.

"But what if he doesn't?! What if he-" her voice cracked and she covered her mouth.

Thea couldn't help but see the similarities between Sally's and Annabeth's reaction at the thought of his death. They reacted the same way.

"Annie, it's Percy" she tried to calm her fear "If someone can survive that eruption, it's him"

Annabeth looked down at the floor, trying to calm herself down. Then she turned to Thea with her mouth wide opened.

"You know, don't you?" She asked her, nodding her head "You're our protector. You can see and feel every demigod!"

"Sweetie-"

"You know if he's alive!" She said loudly "Tell me, please"

"Annabeth!" She said, looking at her with sorrow "I'm sorry, but I can't tell you anything"

"Please, I need to know!" She shook her head, her eyes pleading "He can't be dead, not after-!"

Thea waited for her to finish the sentence, but a long moment of silence passed and she didn't finish it.

"Not after... what?" She asked her, her eyebrow raised.

Annabeth stared at her and took a deep breath.

"I kissed him"

"What?!" She screamed and covered her mouth as she gasped in surprise "You kissed Percy?!"
