Summer

My breath hitched as I seen the most handsome man on earth look like hell was brought down on him. Defeated was the word to describe how he looked.

I froze in disbelief, on the other hand that didn't meant time stopped for the person on the other end. Kaz pulls me out my thoughts when he shifts his body to walk in.

"Oh my poor baby, are you okay? What happened to you?" I asked not knowing what to do with my hands. I knew him and he wasn't looking for touch. I responded by keeping my hands to my side. I just wanted to pull him right in for a hug and tell him everything is going to be okay.

In that moment it hit me, that's how everything has always been I'm my life. He gets to walk right out without a word and walk in when he pleases and I'm just supposed to be just fine with that.

Silence was the answer.

I watched as he sat himself on the couch, his legs spread open and one of his hands rested on his lower stomach. He lifted his hips up to readjust his sitting.

His eyes were still fixated only on me, nothing else in the room could possibly grab his attention. He looked a mess. His beautiful soft hair was now the color of dark gray. I'm assuming it was ashes.

"Yeah Kaz, make yourself real comfortable. Anything else you need," I spoke softly with a hit of sarcasm and a big smile as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Yes, some water will be nice...please," he said, throwing his face in his hands. He never picks up on sarcasm. It wasn't even an invitation. He drove me so mad.

But I took a deep breath before walking away and grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. I walk my way back to him as I pass it to him.

Without even looking up at me he takes the bottle saying his thanks as he throws his head back drowning it without a break in between sips as his adam's apples bubbles.

"What changed?" I finally spoke needing answers of my own. Something was different somewhere, somehow something changed.

"What?" Kaz asked, confused.

"Something changed," I repeated softly..

"Nothing changed? Stop projecting!" He cleared his throat.

"No I see it, I feel it right now. Something happened and your pushing me away," I said calmly walking closer to him. I stoped in my tracks as I kneeled down between his legs to meet his eyes that now looked down on me.

I learned patience a long time ago and he's honestly lucky I have that.

"Nothing changed," he spoke discreetly.

"So I'm dumb now!" I restored.

"I didn't say that Summer?" He spoke calmly he was tired but I'm picking up now that he was getting tired of my question as well.
