"Ooh, so pretty." Lanny gasped.

After crying my eyes out in front of Andrew, I threw him into a different room so Lanny and I could have some "best friend" talk. But mostly just to look at the dress, which was actually not much to look at.

"It's tiny." I said, holding it against my body.

"I think a certain somebody wants you to show some skin. Lots of it."

"I don't think i'm gonna wear this."

"You have to! Don't you think it'd be rude if you didn't?"

I hesitated but knew he was right. I knew that in years of watching my parents, being the best at the "guest of honor" was important. I sighed.

"Fine, i'll try it on."

I stripped down to my underwear and pulled on the dress. The silky fabric clung to me and I felt so exposed. There were multiple straps that hung around my shoulder in layers. There was a thin stitch right under my chest so the dress billowed out from there. The front stopped in the middle of my knees while the back was a long, flowing trail. The back also drooped down to the middle of my back. Lanny was right. Somebody did want lots of skin showing.

"I'm so not wearing this." I said.

"Come on! It's so hot! Besides, i've seen Justin Bieber show more skin than you."

"Justin Bieber's a dude."

"Wait, what?!?"

I rolled my eyes and laughed at him.

"Still," I said. "I'm not wearing this. It's too much."

"Just wear a cardigan over it! Plus, if you wear that, Andrew might noticed your hot bod better."

He gave me a sly wink and I frowned.

"He's not going to notice my bod," I said, sadly. "He's already head-over-heels with Ani."

"So not! She just makes it look that way!"

"Lanny, I know he doesn't think of me like that. I know."

"Whatever. You're still wearing that dress."

I grumbled and threw the dress off of me. I put my hands on my hips and glared at Lanny, yes, still just in my underwear and bra.

"I'm not going to wear that!"

"This says otherwise."

He waved a small card in my face and I snatched it from his hand.

"Where'd you get this?"

"In the box. It was stuffed under all that tissue paper."

I opened the card and read what was inside.

"Dear Zita," it said. "Please wear this dress as a gift from us. It'd be a great honor."

My stomach twisted as I scrolled down the paper.

"P.S," I saw. "Do not wear anything over it. Please and thank you."

I ripped up the card and glared at the scattered pieces.
