Ceilings - Lizzy Mc Alpine

You know when you do something over and over again and you just end up getting sick of it?
Yeah, that's exactly how I feel about going to school.

Or maybe it's just today because like the idiot I know myself to be, I decided to stay up late wanting to finish the book that I physically could not put down.

Starting a mystery book in the evening should've been a mistake from the beginning.
(Thomas Cresswell just has that effect on me.)

I also wanted to take my mind off someone who has trouble sleeping, worrying if he could be able to sleep for the past few days and the feeling of being with him until we both did.

You can't blame me for not moving past the things that I had gone so used to, okay? It's just who I am. I dwell on the past. Most especially, the good memories.

'Good' is an understatement.

I ignore that as I squint to see a blurry figure walking over to me. From what I can make out, it's Stella.

She grins when she gets close enough, "Hey, you."

It brightens me up, "Hi, Stell."

I arrived a bit earlier than usual like every other senior to study since we're writing Social Studies in the exam hall first period.

After we wrote the dreadfully long- that's what she sai- okay. No. Not today.

Moving on, what I meant to say was that after writing the dreadfully lengthy exam- it still sounds wrong- Stella and I walk down the hallway because there's still a few more minutes before the next class.

"What the fuck was that, dude?" A guy I recognize from my Calculus class says in awe.

Stella and I narrow our eyes in amusement as we see the people around us murmuring too, in the same tone as Calculus Dude.

"He's going at it again," The other guy says with raised brows as they both follow the other students who are rushing to the soccer field. "It's the third time this week, he's definitely getting detention."

I don't hear the rest of it as my brows furrow in confusion.

Who's going at it? Who's going to detention? Who are they all gone to look at?

Yes, I'm nosy. But that is not a crime.

"I never thought he could be anymore hotter, but now I've seen him fight and damn." A girl and her friends swoon.

"Who are they talking about?" I ask Stella, who looks just as curious as me.

She shrugs, "From what I've gathered, there's a fight going on where everyone's headed." Her eyes move towards the field, "I'm not sure who though-"
