My heart pounds in my chest as I run through the hospital entrance. My breaths are coming out as sharp, uneven gasps.
Mom and dad needed to make another quick stop to get some food and drinks for everyone and told me to get off and go inside the hospital while they did so.
The air smells like antiseptic and something else which was too clean. It made my stomach churn.
I see Ethan and Thea and the others here too, but I barely register them.
"Noah got into an accident." Mom's earlier words flash through my mind.
Noah. Got. Into. An. Accident.
And the last thing I ever said to him was that I hated him.
The worst part? I didn't even mean it. Not even a little bit. Yes, I hated what he did, but I could never hate Noah.
How will he ever know that? A voice in my head chimes.
Stop it. Noah is not going to die. Not if he thought I wanted him away from me. How can I tell him it's the opposite? How can I tell him I never want him away from me?
All I want to do is cry.
What if my last ever conversation with him was a fight?
I hear Thea's frantic voice talking to the lady at the front desk, "Excuse me! Noah Larsen- he was in a car accident- can you tell us where he is?"
"Are you family?"
Thea's mouth opens but she doesn't say anything. The lady rolls her eyes, "If you're not family I can't-"
"Where is he?" Ethan demands impatiently, coming in front of Thea. His jaw is clenched so tightly, it looks painful. "Tell us where the hell he is."
The lady looks slightly intimidated but she gives no answer and Ethan is a second away from-
Thea intervenes trying to calm things down, "We're here with his parents," to which the lady nods and rattles off the number of the floor and the private patient room.
"Thank you," Thea says hurriedly and when we reach the waiting room we meet the others.
What if I never see that teasing smile that he uses only for me again?
What if I never will hear the ridiculous nickname he made for me ever again?
What if I never get to hear him laugh at my lame jokes ever again? Never get to talk about anything and everything to him?
What if I never see him again?
I didn't even get to show him properly that I liked him.
Isabella is crying, saying something about her being mean and Kai is gentle as he wipes her tears, "He'll be okay, Bella." He reassuringly whispers over and over again that everything will be fine. I don't know who he wants to convince more; himself or Isa.
