"I JUST WANNA BE PART OF YOUR SYMPHONY. WILL YOU HOLD ME TIGHT AND NOT LET GO-" I turn on the volume louder as it blares through my phone's speaker.
What better song to wake someone up?
"LIKE A LOVE SONG ON THE RADIO."
Noah stirs awake, heavy lidded eyes narrowing at me as he sits up on his bed, "What the fuck?" His voice is deeper than usual and sleep is evident on his features.
Right after Aunt Nora hugged me and very excitedly told me to make myself at home since this was the first time I had come over since forever, she got an emergency call from her office and immediately had to go back.
She also told me to wake up Noah from his three hour long 'nap'. Yes, she air quoted nap.
"Why are you in my room?" He mutters, looking at me like I'm a piece of gum stuck under his shoe or something.
"Your mom."
"What?"
"Your mom. She told me to wake you up, you fat piece of log, and also I came here with Audrey because we had to do a project together for Math if you remember clearly."
Audrey and Isabella were applying into universities together so I tagged along with her because Noah and I needed to work on our Math project.
I also crushed my own ego by asking for his number because I tend to be bossy during group projects. I can't help it.
I assumed he knew I was coming over because this is how our conversation on the phone went:
Me: We need to start with our project.
Noah: *read*
Yeah, he left me on read.
I might need to get something to help with my bruising ego.
He narrows his eyes, "You didn't tell me we're starting with it today."
"Uh, yes I did, I literally messaged you! But you left me on read like I'm chasing after you or something." I roll my eyes, trying not to show how much it bothered me.
He hands me his phone, "Show me."
"It's literally right here!" I point to our text thread, incredulously.
"Oh, I probably fell asleep before answering you." He shrugs.
This guy.
Deep breaths.
Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exh-
"You're not a celebrity!" I exclaim.
Deep breaths don't help, guys.
But a pistol to shoot the person does.
"I didn't say I was." He says, grinning now. Clearly, he's loving the way I'm getting riled up.
