I flop down on my usual spot on the couch in the living room and I see Audrey and Nico- her boyfriend already nestled on the couch, a blanket draped over them.
Audrey seems to have fallen asleep, cuddling him.
Nico gives Audrey a gentle kiss on her forehead as he looks at her like she hung the moon or something.
Next to me.
With the same air I'm breathing.
Totally not acceptable.
I mimic a gagging sound, "Barf. Get a room, people." I say, as I exaggeratedly roll my eyes at them.
"Oh look who's here. Small kiddo, Ariella." Nico says, his voice low and teasing. He flicks my forehead lightly and grins when I swat his hand away.
I wrinkle my nose at him, "Eww, get your hand away from me." Obviously, I do that just to be annoying.
"You're such a little kid." He snickers lightly.
"And you're so old." I counter back.
"I'm literally only two years older than you." He looks at me offended.
"It's okay, that's what they all say." I say, reassuring.
"Excuse me?"
Audrey groans in irritation as she nestles further into his chest and Nico pauses just to look down at her. His lips twitch while doing so, and lightly moves a strand of hair away from her face.
Nicolas Davenport. Ruthless reputation. Classy background. Cold. And I say this in the most sisterly way ever - really good looking.
He looks at my sister with the softest look on his face that I'm positive he hadn't used on anyone.
"You know, you're a nice guy for her." I say out of nowhere, because I know people think of him otherwise, but I've seen the way he treats my sister. Like she's the most precious thing to ever happen to him.
And that makes me happy, seeing them being happy. But I won't ever admit that to them. Ever.
Nico and Audrey started dating two years ago, as if they hadn't hated each other's guts during their entire school year. But last year there were some issues with his shitty father and Nico had to break up with her.
Audrey spent half a year thinking Nico was a shit even though he didn't want to do any of it. I thought he was a terrible person too.
But they got through it and eventually, his father decided to back off and mind his business.
Ever since then, he's like an insufferable brother to me.
He stills, looking kind of surprised but then recovers and sends me a small smile, his stormy eyes softening."Thanks, kiddo."
